Advice on Upgrading Setup (Currently RM6600)

Hey guys love the advice you all give, finally my turn to ask for some.

This is my current setup:
Pioneer VSX-D509S Receiver
Polk RM2600 center / RM2300 satellite (aka RM6600)
Polk PSW350 sub

The first thing I want to upgrade is my front speakers to floorstanding ones. Considering Monitor 70's or Tsi500's (refurbished - ebay). Thoughts?

Would I need to upgrade my center if I did that or could I keep my current center and move the satellites to rear and side surround?

I also need to upgrade my receiver. Would the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K be sufficient to run the new setup? And until i can afford the new receiver would it be OK to run this new setup off of my old receiver in the time being.

Thanks!

Looking at the CS-10 as a possible center upgrade.

If your AVR has pre outs and has all the functions you want or need why don't you go with an external amp? I have always found that a seperate dedicated amp has more power and sounds better than most AVR's.

A nice thing I like about a seperate amp is that in the future when you want to upgrade to be able to do what ever new thing they have out you are not disgarding the amp. It will go into the next system.

This is exactly the speaker system I started with. (RM6600 - PSW-350) but I had an Onkyo 777 AVR.

From there I purchased 2 - LSi7's and an LSiC (using RM6600 speakers as rears)
Then Purchased an amp (using my Onkyo 777 as a pre-pro)
Then purchased LSi15's and moved my LSi7's to the rear channels.
Then Purchased an NAD T-163 preamp.
    Then upgraded the T-163
    Then upgraded the LSiC
    Then upgraded the LSi7's

    Plan to upgrade the LSi15's
Plan to purchase a new Pre/Pro (that supports lossless audio)

That is over about a 7 year timeframe....

    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

Hey binary, welcome to Club Polk. If you are looking into upgrading your speakers, the TSi/Monitor series is a good way to start. I have Monitor 70's and love them, for the prices they can be had for these days they are hard to beat, IMHO. If you do decide to get the 70's, I would upgrade your center as well, the CS2 is the perfect match, but keep in mind it is a beast and won't fit into tight places. If you decide to get the 500's, I would get the CS20, not the CS10. But again, the CS20 is a beast. The surrounds aren't as important to match, but if you want to the Monitor 40's would be a good choice for the 70's and the TSi 200's would be a good match for the 500's. If size is a problem with the surrounds, or you want to wall mount them the go with the Monitor 30's or TSi 100's.

Thanks for the info. I decided to go with the TSi500s and got a CS2.

This receiver does not have pre-outs (and it's pretty old) so I have to upgrade it anyway.

I am not familiar with using amps on receivers, how would this work? It would add more power to all speakers or just the front two? Would this make the front two overpower the other speakers when used? And what is a good one and how much do they run?

(I have an average knowledge of home theater but almost zero when it comes to something like an amp)
