Hello,

I am about to order parts to rebuild the crossovers on a pair of Monitor 10Bs and though I would check in here to confirm my choices. I have already replaced the SL2000 tweeters with
RDO-194s, lined the baskets with Dynamat Extreme and bedded the drivers with rope caulk.

There are two 12µF capacitors, one film, one electrolytic on each crossover. I will replace both with Sonicap Gen I (http://www.soniccraft.com/sonicaps.htm). The 34µF electrolytic capacitor I will replace with Jantzen 33uF 400V Crosscap Capacitor (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?PartNumber=027-944&DID=7).

While I am at Soniccraft I will get 2.0Ω and 2.7Ω MRA-5 Mills resistors (http://www.soniccraft.com/mills_resistors.htm).

Are these the right choices? Should I also replace the polyswitch while I am at it?

Regards,
Jim

You should go with the 12 watt resistors from Mills.
Depending on your power source and how you use the volume should be the deciding factors on what to do with the polyswitches. If you have a great power source and do not run it into clipping you may as well bypass the poly's.

Thanks for your reply, NJPOLKER. Why 12 watt (MRA-12)? The existing resistors have 5W stamped on them.

If I use these in my HT, they will not have a great power source, at least initially. So I would like the protection. Should the polyswitches be replaced since I have no idea how these speakers might have been used before I got them?

    Regards,
