why what you buy from them? I tend to like the Polk dealer on eBay better.. What is it that he is selling. Many of Polk Auctions are for beat to **** speakers.

nothing too particular right now....but I was just perusing ebay at lunch and his prices are pretty rock bottom of a lot of speakers and there are quite a few he claims are in great condition, fully function but with a few cosmetic blemishes usually. specifically i was looking at the VM series(along with wishfully looking at the RTIa series) as I'm thinking in the next 12 months or so using the VM series for my downstairs family room as the VM 10s and 20s are the perfect size to keep the wife happy, and used as a center are small enough to lay in front of the TV w/o interferring with the remote.

For the coin, I would trust his speakers. I considered it once and realized I could do much much better with Polk Refurbs. Most of the ones I've seen from Kingpin looked like they took a nasty tumble down a flight of steps. I guess you can check his ratings, just make sure your are clear about the condition of the speakers you are considering.

i just bought a pair of RtiA5s from him for $350 shipped yesterday. Waiting for him to ship. His price on the Rti series is good. He usually lists the RtiA9s for $750 shipped. I've known of him for a long time and has checked out his auctions on numerous occassions as well. He used to list overpriced speakers on audiogon and ebay but has come down in price recently. I think the price is good, you just need to find a pair in good condition because they do vary with auctions.

I remember talking to him about a single beat LSi9 he had listed for $250 and asking if he had another. At this point he had listed the speaker numerous times and no one wanted it. I asked if he had another speaker to go with it even if the serial number didn't line up. Well he had no other LSi9 speakers (SURPRISE) and he wasn't able to come down in price. I basically told him one speaker would be worthless.

Personally I take the RTi A9s from Polk. I know I got my LSi25s refubs. and they were brand new. The boxes were alittle beat from shipping but speakers didn't have a mark on them, none of the packages with speakers were never opened. I really doubt there were ever sold before. I then get the full warranty with the speakers.

I actually wanted to say I WOULD NOT trust his speakers for the price, however I am referring to his prices from Audiogon when I looked about 7 months ago. However maybe it's worth considering if if his prices have come down?
I guess we can wait from some feedback on your a5's?

one thing i know is I ordered last night and it has been shipped with UPS tracking number and will get to me by Thursday. considering his feedbacks and the fact that i know he's sold a lot of polk speakers over the year, i'm pretty sure that the speakers are in condition he described - which was "mint" for mine, and that is very good in his rating system.

i mean it's worth it if Polk direct was offering the same speakers for say, 10-20% more as it comes with the warranty, but for RtiA5s, they're harder to come in refurb and considering Polk direct are selling refurb Rti8s in cherry for minimum $315 (usually the auction ends at a higher price), I think I got a pretty good deal. For those who are interested in cherry Rti8s, frys usually have them new for $150+$18 shipping or so, which hands down beats Polk direct on ebay.

so i got the speakers. first impression is the boxes were VERY professionally packed. They used the tape which has threads in it. Taped very cleanly. The foam inside cover every bit of the speaker and it was very safe. To the speakers...

The speakers themselves were in very good condition considering they were used. The serial number sticker was a little peeled and there is one small line on the side of one RtiA5. And 2 "smudges" in black. They are not noticeable unless inspected closely, but they do have different black than the color of the speakers. A little brighter under my orange light. But nothing that I would cry over. Haven't had a chance to check them out sonically since it's been a long day at work but I will sure give them some warm up this weekend. Expecting my MFW-15 to arrive tomorrow. It's going to be a fun weekend...
