I would love to build my own blu ray player. But can't get around the software issues.Could I use a PC motherboard,PC blu ray drive and vendor's software/drivers for it.Use the Blu ray player's power supply board,DAC's,front panel(lights),etc, etc, etc???

Do a search for pc case mods. I don't think it would be an ideal enclosure, but I've seen some pretty impressive uses of space. Heat will be an issue, you'll have to add ports for the keyboard, mouse, etc...

Good luck, and welcome to CP.

You can get an ITX mobo/PSU and a BD player/HDD from a laptop, i have seen a PC inside a whiskey bottle before lol

IMHO after the cost of said item's and the time involved to assemble you would probably be better off just buying a player, unless you want to tinker then have at it! :)

I firmly doubt you'd get all that to work together. You'd have to have all the schematics and service manuals, along with the electrical inner workings of the original player.

I'd just buy a player or get a dedicate case.

    Highly unlikely.
