Tube Amplifier

Looking for a tube amplifier, more then 35wpc preferred for the Europa's. would also prefer not to have screw type speaker taps. easy to bias also please :)

local or shipped to seattle...under $1200. any and all brands considered :D

    I have a mint VTL stereo 50,, currently receiving a check up and complete cap replacement, uses 4 12AX7's and four 5881's,,both input and power tubes are new production soviet made. It has the VTL sound with plenty of bass,easy to bias, but does have the "old school" speaker connections,,LMK if you are interested.

    I have 2 of these. Both have been back to Kolida for tune-ups and sub outputs added for left and right channels. You can sum the L&R with a Y adapter if only one sub is needed. Oh yeah, only one leaves the collection.

    I also have a freshly modded Conrad Johnson MV75-A1. Uses 6500's, KT88's or KT90's with an easy as hell LED bias adjustment right on the top next to the tubes. The conrad uses the old school speaker connections also but I made adapters for them for the use of spade or nanners.

    Yep,, got it from the original owner,, It still has the original VTL labeled 5881 output tubes,, anyhow,I purchased new tubes, and noticed that one of the caps appeared to look funky on the top, so she is a Benny's for a complete checkup and re-cap.Here's a couple of pics.

    going with a c-j mv-52, pretty decent deal from a-gon. been talking with roy johnson, head of green mountain and he had a couple of suggestions on amps that would really sound good with the europa's and since it will take me a while to scrounge the funds for one of them i thought the c-j would make a nice stepping stone :)

    I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut that a set of EL34's will beat out any 6CA7's in that CJ amp. Just my experience with CJ amps running EL34's vs 6CA7's. But, if it sounds good to you and your combination of gear then go for it. Most of all....enjoy!

    I have no experience with the C-J,, but for EL-34's I like the Svetlana Winged C's,, early nineties if you can get em,,or the NOS Tesla's,, which can be had for a reasonable price,,pm me if you are interested in the Tesla's,and I'll fill you in.

    Rogue 90 amp. Rogue makes great amps. What am I saying...Rogue makes very good amps and preamps.
