I was wondering the difference between the processor in the Oppo bdp-83 and the Denon DVD-A1UDCI. I have the Oppo and it has the Anchor Bay Technologies ABT 2010 processor while the Denon has the Silicon Optix Realta processor, both are 10-bit.
Do any of you know the differences between the two, which one is a superior processor for image quality, and why did Oppo choose to use Anchor Bay and Denon use Optix Realta?

They are both state of the art processors. I feel certain that Oppo chose the ABT chip because it is a state of the art chip and they have a prior working relationship.
The Realta doesn't seem to fair as well with synthetic benchmark tests. However it seems to perform quite well in real-world and people seem very happy with it.
I for one can't afford the Denon but would love to hear one. Everyone raves about the analog section.
I have the BDP-83.-Kevin
