Setting up subwoofer

Hello guys
I just bought some RTI a5s, csi a6 and an Elemental Designs A2-300 as well as the Yamaha rxv 765. I am trying to get the subwoofer to work and the reciever only recognizes it during certain shows. I have a western digital media extender with movies on it as well as an ipod hooked up to the reciever and no bass. Is there a way to turn the subwoofer on. I know it works because I set it up with the program. Will it only work with certain shows and movies? Is there a setting in the reciever?

How do you have everything hooked up? Depending on how the 765 handles the bass management you may need to change a setting to get the sub to work with a stereo signal. Take a look in the manual for some help with the bass management settings.

Also make sure that the A5's are set to small or the crossover is set correctly.
What do you mean it only works with certain shows? Also we would need to know how things are connected. Is it all HDMI?Front - RTiA5's
Rear - RTiA3's
Center - CSiA4
Sub - PSW110 -
In the Polk subwoofer manual, you should find some instructions like:
- Hook option 1 with LFE
- Set all speakers to SMALL in receiver (Yamaha YPAO set to Large, so should setup manually)

The guys are right....check your crossover point on the Yamaha and make sure that it isn't set too LOW....because the A5s can play to about 40 or so....if the sub were, say, set to 60 hz...you would only here it kick on only when there were really LOW LFEs...
Another problem...is that you need to have the LFE out signal on your receiver set LOUD enough for the sub to recognize....if it is set too low the sub will just shut off.
If you've run the YPAO..that should've taken care of most of that...but such Auto set-ups often make errors when it comes to setting sub levels...so check those levels manually and see what they are...?
