Monster MPA 3250 - Common Ground?

Help Please!

I recently purchased a Monster MPA 3250 3 channel amp for $400.00. My intent is to use it to power the 3 front channels of my HT, SDA 1C'S (LR) and a Monitor 5 for the center. My question, is this amp common ground so I can use it with my SDA'S? I had been using an Adcom 555 in the past with the neg terminals tied together and it worked fine. I just don't know if that applies to this amp as well?

Any help you can offer would be appreciated as I don't want to hook it up without knowing for fear of damaging the speakers or amp.

Thanks,

Farrell

I don't know about the Monster, but I do know that the Adcom 555 is a common ground amp. You shouldn't have had to tie the negatives together to use it.

you dont need to tie anything together-I've been running all monster for 4 yrs. now, and run 2.3tl's front left and right, a 3.1tl center, and 3.1tl's rear. I have the whole monster backbone, and it rocks! before this i had adcom, and nothing has ever been tied together. where did u find a 3250 for $400? what a score!!

Thanks for the info. I had a post awhile back where it was determined that the Adcom 555 was not common ground and it was suggested that I connect the negative terminals with a jumper. All I know is that My SDA'S made an awfull schreeching noise with my Adcom until I tied the two neg terminals together?

I'll try the amp with my SDA's tonight,I have it running my RTA 15's and it sound great.

I found the amp and a HTS 2500 MK2 ($50) on CL in Lake county. If I like this after demoing for a few days he has a MPA 2250 I may pick up to run my surrounds.

    Thanks again for the advice.

He's only asking $375 and will probably come down. He also has an Onkyo Integra 9.4 preamp,Sonance amp, some B&K stuff, Martin Logan speakers and a second HTS 2500. All resonable if anyone here on the forum is interested.

I've only had mine for two days so far but.......... Build quality seems to be top notch. Balanced and unbalanced connections, speakers connectors are all metal, and this 3 channel amp weighs almost 100lbs!

Not fun getting it up to my 2nd story residence. Sound quality running SDA 1C'S and a Monitor 5 center is very good,I can't get the led's to read past 55 watts per channel at a pretty high volume.
