SVS mix or match

I'm looking at some SVS subs on Audiogon, seller has a CS ultra and two 20-39's.

I have a 25-31 and thought about moving it to the back and running the ultra up front or buying both the 20-39's and run them in opposite corners.

Which would be the best set up?

Is the price he is asking reasonable?


I'm rolling down that way Saturday (DFW) so if anyone in the area has a CS they want to part with at a better price let me know.

The 20-39s will match your 25-31, just tuned a bit lower. The Ultra will be a nice upgrade and I'm sure the 25-31 will add on nicely. However, I think he's a tad high for used CSs. I've seen powered Ultras go for $525...maybe he'll deal.

I'm leaning toward picking up the ultra and moving the 25-31 to the back opposite corner.

Do you have an amp that can deliver 900w into 4ohms. The TV12 driver can take that and more. You can get by with less if you're careful. You might want to ping Ed Mullen and ask for recs.

I have an Adcom 555 with one channel biamping my lsic and the other channel running the 25-31. I could bridge the 555 and put it on the ultra and run the 25-31 off a marantz mono(180@4) that I've used before with good results.
