Hello,

I have rearranged my living room to accommodate a vintage Polk 5.0 system and am putting my SurroundBar 42 and PSW10 subwoofer up for sale. I was quite satisfied with this system when I had it in the corner, but now it is time to upgrade to the full surround system.

I bought these two items in April 2007 and they are still in nearly top condition with the exception of a couple of spots on the grills which are visible on close inspection. The SB42 includes both the table stand and two part wall mount bracket. I soldered together two five foot lengths of the 18 gage ribbon cable to double up the thickness; there is still 15 feet of the original ribbon cable left. The original boxes are included.

I prefer to sell these locally as a package since they work well together. They are set up and available for audition. After a week here I will put them on Craigslist.

$300.00 Cash. I can deliver within 100 miles of Albuquerque for the price of a tank of gas. (Are there any Polkies in NM besides me?)

Note on PSW10 photos: the camera flash picked up such a shine off the grill that I was obliged to darken it in Photoshop to get it to look like it really does in normal light. No other tricks.

Regards,
Jim

I just have to ask. Are you saying you only get 200 miles to a tank of gas?

Good luck with the sale and I'm only poking some fun.

Sell the PSW10 without the soundbar? I have a PSW10 box for shipping. It would be nice to add a second one for the kid's game room. They have surround for the PS3 & Xbox360 and adding a second sub for the rear of the room would be a nice addition to the rumble that already drives the wife nuts.

Not at this time; if I find a buyer for just the SB42, I'll get back to you.

    Thanks,

I will sell them together for $250, local pickup, cash only. They will be set up for audition. I really think it is best if a buyer listens to them first before paying.

If I can sell the SurroundBar first for $200, I will sell the PSW10 for $75.00.

    This is a SMOKIN' Deal!
I was trying to sell mine for a lot more and gave up.
I couldn't even get a previous poster who was interested in just the Surroundbar to answer my pm.
You could try selling it (dare I say it?!) on audiogon.
If you don't sell it at this price, I would just keep it in the box and save it for that 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) system...
Right now, mine is serving duty with just the L/R speakers being driven off the tv - slight improvement in sound this way and a major under-utilization. Whenever I get another flat screen tv for the BR, I'll get the proper equipment and put it back into full service
Good luck with whatever you do.

It is a lousy time to be selling used electronics, good time to buy. The electronics section of Craigslist keeps getting longer every day. If I can't get this price I will just keep them. Right now the SB is hanging on the wall over the window across from my desk, with the sub on the floor. It's my office computer audio system. Not ideal, but at least I am getting some use out of them.

    Thanks for the plugs, guys.

Ya, you can't give this away, you might as keep and use it in your computer rig and sell when the market gets better. Too bad, if we weren't so far apart I would have taken this away for my son. That would have been a nice Xmas gift (he could have replaced that crappy HTIB he bought).

Good luck any way with wathever you decide to do!

I would be interested in just the SurroundBar.

I read that you prefer local pickup, but any chance of shipping that?
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

If they don't sell off Craigslist over the weekend, I will think about shipping them or keeping them. I want the buyer to listen and be satisfied before forking over the cash.

    Fair enough.

Just getting tired of bidding for them on the Ebay store and losing every time at the last minute (and seeing some of them sell for close to $300;))

    Hello,

I have decided to keep the SurroundBar and PSW10 and go back to separate HT and 2 channel rigs; the furniture arrangement just works better in my living room. I am going to try the SB with a center surround channel, making a 6.1 system.

Also, I was just taking too much of a beating on depreciation - $625 in two and a half years. I'd like to get more mileage out of them.

Unless you really need the cash you are better off to keep it.

I am listening to my Surroundbar 42 right now and would miss it f I didn't have it.
Now it isn't as good as the Surroundbar 50 but it does alright.
I run it off the receiver speaker outputs for general TV viewing or radio listening.
It does very well for that purpose and is much better than the TV built-in speakers.
(I use the pre-amp outputs for the LSi's for HT or serious music)
I think you gave people a good offer and you didn't get positive response to your own expectations so I think it is fair and you are making the right choice/decision by keeping your gear.

If you want to match the SB properly, think of the old RM series as they are the exact same drivers used in the SB42. If you intend to use another center, the RM20 would be the perfect choice for such.

    Cheers!

Thanks, TK & xcapri. Amazon.com has this same package (new) for $500. If used equipment should go for half to two thirds off the new price ($160-250) that's too much of a loss from the $875 I paid 2-1/2 years ago.

The TV & SB are now back in the corner, separate from the two channel system. I have a Monitor 7A set up as the center surround. If I like that setup I will look for an RM series center.
