There is a pair of SDA 1Cs in my area but I am not sure if I should try them. I have tried SDA 1s and SDA 2 and found them to be laidback and soft sounding compared to the RTA 12B and monior 10s. The stage tends to be not as forward as the 10s or 12s. On the other hand i kinow the 1Cs are supposed to be much improved and the best of the group according to some. Anyone done any comparisons?? thanks, keith

If they're not overpriced and in great condition, why the heck not?

I just sold my SDA 1C's, but I'll tell you what...if I have a chance later down the road to pick a pair up I most definitely would. Make sure you have an amp that can drive those suckers though.

SDA1C's are by the best SDA's in normal home environments bar none.

upgrade the caps and resistors and RDO194, you will be ammazed. An no they will not be laidback. Before I upgraded my XO I felt like they were to much in my face. YMMV

Depending on condition. At $300 they should be near perfect with no holes in the grill covers and no frozen MW and all tweets working and factory IC.

Not sure where you live but $400 would be stretching it here in Dallas. I drove to Austin for a $300 set of oaks that were in great shape but one MW was toast.

Depends on how often they become available in your area.

If you plan to keep them,,then add 200.00 for tweets,, 150-175 for crosssover(depending upon cap brand) and a few dollars for incidentals--spikes,dynamat,bindingposts,,optional,,but just saying if you want to get the maximum benefits,of course these can be undertaken a step at a time.Good luck--keep us posted.

    Geppy1,

I've recently made the switch from RTA-12Bs to SDA-1Cs and I'm happy with the switch, even though the 12Bs still have their merits. My 1Cs have the RDO tweets. They are definitely not soft sounding and if anything seem to be a little more in your face than my 12Bs. I would say the soundstage is definitley more enveloping and forward than the 12Bs also, which is what you would expect with the SDA effect. If you can get a pair of 1Cs in good condition for $300-400, I would jump all over them. One thing I can say about the RTA-12B though is I prefer the Peerless tweets in the 12B over the RDO-194 tweets I have in my SDA-1Cs. The sophisticated crossover network of the 12s might have something to do with it, but highs just sound more natural and realistic with the 12Bs. With some music, I actually still prefer the RTA-12Bs over the SDA-1Cs. Overall though, I prefer the SDA-1Cs. Hope this helps.

    Steve

If these were the ones for sale in MN, they sold today. Who's the lucky owner?
