New amp

Just taken the first step into "serious" hi fi , bought a linn av5105 of ebay for £300 . oheewww big step for me .

    We are mostly American's save a few frozen Canucks with a smattering of others, so you have to explain things in simple terms....exchange rate cost???

    where is it going?????

    I remember listening to some Linn stuff when I was working in the UK and spending time in London and Nottingham. Seemed to have a pretty sweet sound, a little more forward than the normal UK/BBC soundstage. Nottingham was a great city for audio and music stores, didn't buy any gear however I found a lot of nice music on CD and LP that you don't see too often in the US.

    :) right , ehh , when it was new (2000 ish) it retailed at $1800 , i paid £300 witch at the minute is a $491.
    It’s leagues above my other gear , it’s going to be paired with my tannoy f4 customs and the pre amp of my nad 3240pe . next upgrade is either a proper pre amp or a cd player.
    Im of to get it tomorrow from a hi fi shop nearby . looking forward to it :D

    there isn’t much on this amp online other than it needed a product recall ...

    Apparently it was supposed to be live at Sheffield (or Manchester) but they screwed up the recording so had to do it at Leeds.:rolleyes:

    The current setup, i am in need of a hi-fi rack I’m currently waiting for one nearby on ebay.

    The Cambridge audio amp has such weedy cables in it as its driving my little Yamaha surround system and my normal cables are too large for the speakers. The nad is just used as a pre amp ,when listening to cd’s i plug the power amp straight into the dvd player (Cambridge 540d v2) as it has a volume control. Don’t even use the tv i just can’t bring myself to get rid :rolleyes: .
