New to Polk, Polk Audio RTI A1 Compare to Monitor 60
Hello, I am looking for speakers. I just bought Polk-PSW 505 subwoofer. Right now, I am using speakers from Logitech z-5500. I am not sure if RTI A1 nor Monitor 60 will increase the sound quality.
Anyone know which one is better in term of sound quality? My speakers from Z-5500, RTI A1, or monitor 60? I am confuse with the quality differences between bookshelf and floorstanding speakers.

Welcome to Club Polk.
Do you have a receiver in mind? You won't be able to run either the RTiA1's or the Monitor 60's straight off a pc. You'll need some sort of processor/ amp to feed the signal to the speakers.
But to answer your question, the difference between floor's & bookshelves, is generally, that floorstanders have a wider frequency response, and better sound.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
I second Obleone's note above...and his WELCOME!!
Get a good AVR or a stereo receiver for a budget system...a good option is a Harman Kardon 2 channel x 120 watt. And the M60s will give you a wider range...the Rti-series has a slightly more detailed tweeter but you'd be better off with towers, unless you plan to expand to HT in which case you might want to start with Rti bookshelves and move them to the back later...and get Rti-A9 towers! The PSW505 is a pretty good sub for the money!

Hello, I already bought Onkyo TX-SR607. I am using Logitech Z-5500 speakers on it and think that the sound is not good enough for movies or music. So, I should go with Polk Monitor 60?
Rti-A9 Is too expensive for me. 850 for each, that's too much. -
Hey ahtze,
Two M60s, a 505, and a 90watt/Onkyo should be a very good start to a decent HT. The 60s can be had at insane prices these days and will blend nicely with your sub. They'll sound way better than a logitec speakers set!!

How about center channel? Should I get Polk CS2?
And for the rear, should I just use my Logitech Z-5500 speakers as rear channels as I have extra z-5500 speakers with me right now? Will they ruin the sound on the rear channels?
What's your opinion?
Thx -

I think you should just ditch the z-5500's altogether and go straight Polk. I can tell you really like them but once you try something else (especially from Polk) you won't think twice about switching over. I've had the 5300's and 5500's and I just gave them away when I moved. I'm sure if you don't give them away, you'll either sell them/toss them in a closet or just put them in a bedroom.

Someone is selling Polk Pair rti A3 for 300. Should I buy that for Rear channels?
So, 2 M60 for the front, 1 Polk CS2 center, 2 RTIA3 for the rear and a PSW 505.
Is that a good setup? -
Anyone know if 4- Polk Audio RTi8 and a CSi5 will sound better than M60 and CS2?
-
I could get 4 Polk Audio RTi8 and a CSi5 for around 550. Is that a good price? Will it sound better than Polk Monitor 60 with CS2? or I should just go for a new Polk Monitor 60 with CS2?
Thanks -
WIll Rti-8s sound better than M60s/CS2? Yes....the proper comparison would be M70s or TSI500s to the Rti-8's because they, at least, have a similar frequency range. The M70s have a slightly less defined high end...which, IMO, sounds better than the somewhat more detailed and 'brighter' Rti-8...for music. But that is a matter of taste...I just don't like brighter speakers...others do..!
But if you're thinking home theater...550 for 4? Rti-8s and a matching center is a GREAT price! And I would go with that package if you have the cash...
