Can you get more blatant? I mean, really?

Though I thought at first too it wasn't a first down. Really the refs have a much better point of view then we had and the angle could have been a factor since it was so close.

But I always found it funny that the refs place the ball where they thought it was down, then measure their placement to the fraction of an inch to see if its first down... So the whole measurement is flawed to begin with.

Either way, the browns still sucked and had no chance:D

The refs are making some pretty rotten calls this season. Seems to be worse than usual.

They have replay now, take it to the next level. I want to see a GPS chip in the football. Eliminate the error.

I seem to remember a superbowl game where the Steelers scored a touchdown against the Seahawks that was obviously almost a foot short of the end zone.

GPS has a WAY larger margin of error than a few inches.

Not when the "satellites" are inside the stadium. I've read they could be accurate down to a fraction of an inch.

camera clearly was not perpendicular to the field--Look at the hash mark for the perspective.

So are you going to line the entire inner skin of the football with these? You have no way of knowing the orientation of the football at its furthest progress, thus you would need a way of knowing the exact location of every square inch of the football. How are you going to do that?

Simple. Put a sensor at each end and one in the middle, each with a unique address. Then you will always know the orientation of the ball.

Why does everything have to be so precise? Yeah, I know that we have the technology and all that BS, but can't they just go out there and play the game like they've always done? Someone always gets screwed and someone always complains about it, but that has happened longer than most of us have been alive. I'm now to the point that I don't even care that someone got screwed because if you're a good team, you will find a way to win anyways.

Why not completely remove the variable?

I don't exactly know why I feel this way, but I like the fact that the variable is there. It's always been there and is a part of the game to me I guess.

I have to agree with the statement. And to add to it, I'm of the stance that everything pretty much evens out in the end. If not over the course of a game, probably over the course of a season.

I suppose living in college basketball Mecca for so many years has left a bad taste in my mouth concerning the constant berating of officials and the mindset that they're ALWAYS out to get you and obviously ALWAYS want the other team to win. I'm looking at you Kentucky Wildcat fans.

Trust me - I'm extremely passionate about my teams. I would just rather blame them for a loss than the zebras. Missed opportunities, and all that.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

how about that bogus tripping call against the Vikings today. It negated a Viking touchdown and potentially cost them the game. I won't go so far as to say this was the deciding factor in the outcome, but it did set the stage for everything that came later as the Viking swould have been playing with a lead at that point rather than trailing.

6-1 hardly sucks... who is your team by the way. And I would hardly call my post "whining"... In fact, I was not really even that upset when the call was made, but it was a bad call nonetheless and felt it should be added to the discussion.

    Cheers!
