Hello all. I was just wondering what gauge wiring would be the best to run 600w RMS to a MM10? Also what gauge would you run to a MM6 component set running 75w RMS per channel?

I was thinking along the lines of 8 gauge for the MM10 and 12 or 14 for the components. Am I on the right track or way off?

    One more thing...

Which companies RCA cable would you suggest to keep the SQ at its best?

    Thanks again

dude you're way high on teh speaker wire gauge.

it depnds on how long your runs are - but assuming their less than 10 feet then 14 gauge is enough -- 12 is ideal.... anything over 12 gauge for less than 10 feet on 600 watts is overkill...

for 75 watt speakers -- hell you can do 15 feet at 18 gauge with absolutely no problems... 16 being preferred.

to give u a general idea.... I run 160+ x 2 to my fronts about 15 feet on 16 gauge.

I run 600 -700 watts ( to each sub coil) over like a 1 to 1.5 foot length with 12 gauge.

you could actually run 600 watts off of like 16 gauge as long as its less than 3 feet but its not really the best idea...

bigger is always better -- well usually -- but if u go with 8 gauge for a 600 watt run -- i mean think about wht you're doing dude -- you're running like 8 gauge power wire into yoru amp, then you're gonna run 8 or 10 gauge speaker wire? when the current is a fraction of whats goin through the amp's powr supply?

see its a voltage thing --- high current needs big wire... high voltage needs like nothing.

    P = v* I = v*v / R --> say you're speaker is 4 ohms and you measure your peaking voltage at like 50V -- that's about 600 rms.

600 / 50 = 12 amps... if 8 gauge power wire is good for up to 30 amps of current draw (its actully more like 50) then why use such heavy stuff when u're only hittin 12 tops -- 12 gauge is good up to like 15A.

think of it like house wire --- you've got 110 - 115 volts going htrough your house outlets -- yet its only got 14 gauge solid core wire... because everything has 15 or 20A fuses on it.

which RCA cables ? -- streetwires 5.0/6.0 i don't think you'll get much arguement onthat -- like 70% of the demo cars u look at on MFG websites have streetwires cables-- makes u wonder why esoteric ever went out of business if everyone was usin their stuff.

Thanks a lot man. You just saved me quite a bit of money. My amp will be mounted in the trunk along with the two MM10s. I will prob run teh KnuKonceptz 12 gauge bi-wire "Each condutor is composed of 294 strands of the finest copper (5N Purity) for superb audio accuracy and flexibilty. Each strand has been tinned." (saves me like .40 a foot) from the amp to the two MM10s. And thier Karma 16AWG Speaker Kable to the component sets. If that sounds cool just let me know.

    Thanks again,

i think you might want to turn the gain down
    600w on a 400w speaker is a lot
    i have 600 running in a 500w momo
and i wouldnt put anymore into it
i wouldnt put more than 500 in it
    but thats just me
i have 4 gauge hot and ground going into the amp....12 guage going to the subs from the amp...and i think 16 going to the components...maybe 14...i dont remember

The info that came with the subs actually say they are 500w rms 1000w max on the MM10's. So 600w rms should be ok. I am going to run 0/1 gauge from the batteries back to a distrubution block that goes from o/1 to four 4 or 8 gauge outputs. I will be running 4 gauge into the sub amp.
