I have an opportunity to buy a Harman/Kardon AVR 7000 for $100. I'd be buying it from a friend and wouldn't want to rip him off if I offered too low since he would basically be taking my word on its value. It is in good condition. I'm halfway thinking of setting up a small stereo in my son's room if I can't get a decent amount for the RT800's I'm selling. Is $100 a decent price? It's probably 9 years old at this point and obviously outdated from a HT perspective.

That is a great price. That was a sweet receiver back in the day...well it still is.
You will be able to re-sell and get your money back if you don't like it. Enjoy.

RT800's and an HK7000.....Overkill for a 4-year old's room or sweet introduction into the seductive world of audio? :D.....not like he can't listen to the other systems in the house. :p

A flagship receiver from any generation is worth $100! Good sound doesn't change that much. So the new receivers have more processing/decoding, HDMI, room correction, etc, but I'd bet that old HK sounds better with music than all the current receivers priced south of $1500.
