Center channel Placement
I recently ordered (not here yet) a bracket to put on top of my 50" Sony rear-projection LCOS to hold my CS1. My TV stand puts my CS1 very low to the floor and doesn't allow me to angle it up. Last night I was perusing the Mapleshade catalog and they said placing the center channel on top of the TV is the worst thing you can do for the sound. Anyone have experience with this placement on their center channel speaker?

Ken,
I totally disagree with those comments being made by this Mapleshade CO.
Not only can you place it that way,but it will sound just fine, especially so if you actually angle it down.
Go for it, and most of all....Congratulations on getting your new Sony, Ken.
oops sorry. I meant getting "the bracket". You already own the TV. Congrats anyways on owning that particular Sony television Ken.

If it's angled down a bit I don't see how it would be any different than placing it low and angling it up...
I have my center low (nearly on the floor) with it angled up and it sounds great... CS2 center BTW. -
I have my center channel mounted over top of my screen and the sound is MUCH better than when it was on the floor! It cost me like $15 for the material's to make the dang stand lolMedia Room 7.1

I have tried my center channel speaker below my tv and above. I much prefer above. The center speaker is used for dialog much of the time and the dialog usually is coming from the upper 1/3 of the screen during a movie. Having the speaker mounted on top of the tv seems to me to give a much more realistic sound field during movies.
I have a Sony rear projection tv, too, with the speaker mounted right on top of it. Could I see a pic of the mount maybe from the side and the back of the TV? I know it's a bit much to ask but I'm trying to get an idea of how it looks. The back of my TV is visible from another room so I am trying to decide how high or low on the WAF scale it would rate. -
I've had the center above and below the TV and can't say one sounds better than the other. It was on top when I had a RPTV, but when I got the plasma, it had to go underneath. To say the it sounds poor when placed above the TV is wrong IMO.HT RIG

I just added two pictures to my System Showcase that shows a side view of the center speaker mounted on top of the tv. Click on "My Stuff" in my first posting in this thread above.
