Help with CAD program (calling Polkies)

I picked up an SAE 2600 amplifier for a low price and I started taking it apart to clean it up.

The faceplate has some scratches so I thought about replicating it using the Front Panel Designer program that was talked about here recently. But this is taking me way too long to figure out how to use the program.

Are there any Polkies here that are good with such a program? Perhaps I can send you the faceplate and associated parts and you can enter the dimensions into the program. I can pay you for your time (within reason of course) and naturally pay for shipping the parts there and back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Joe

    Hi Joe,

I am not familiar with Front Panel Designer; I use Vectorworks which is a full featured CAD and 3D modeling program. It has numerous export options for use with various types of computer guided milling and cutting machines which I have used successfully. Send me a PM with your contact info and we can talk about it.

    Regards,

So you are looking for someone that can precisely measure out the faceplate, and draw it in the software. Correct?

Yes, that's right. I have no problem with the measuring part...it's making rectangles in the correct spots in the program that I'm having trouble with. I'd hate to send in the specs and get back a rubik cube.

    Jim, check this link http://www.frontpanelexpress.com/

Basically, you design your faceplate and it even calculates the price. Send it in via e-mail, pay, and they send back your part.

They let you download their free program to enter in all the specs.

    PM Sent.
