Is XPA-5 two channels strong enough power LSi25s?

Basically I was powering my LSi25 my a old peavey CS 800 but didn't like the noise it made when running so ordered a XPA-5 to use as part of a 7.1 seup. I had though about bi-amping he LSi25s with Onkyo 806 but read some posting that bi-amping watted power didn't gain much. the XPA-5s is rated 300 Watts at 4 Ohms and I don't think the overstate there output. Thoughts?

Welcome Chris. The XPA will do just fine & you don't need to bother with biamping since the XPA has more than enough without the extra wires.

I agree with Cfrizz, I have my LSI's bi-amped with the XPA-5, I bearly notice a difference (very subtle in the low end)....Not worth the extra wire.

LOL! The LSIs will take everything you throw at them & demand more! Wingnut had a full set of LSIs being driven with 200wpc, she then purchased a 300wpc amp & got even better sound!

Many on here say that the LSIs continually improve as you hook them up to better gear.

what setting or presetting do you use on your 806?

Also I am guessing I should switch the phase setting on the LSi25 because I have an external Subwoofer (oAudio + Templest-X DIY)

The question I am wondering is if I should change the crossover on LSi25s to maybe 60Hz so it gets alittle more warmer sounding and leave the other lower end parts to Subwoofer.

    Question...

    Is it better to

    1) Run LSi25s with only XPA-5

    2) Run LSi25s bi-amped with XPA-5 for bottom and Onkyo 806 as top

The reason I am asking is I can do either of these setup for free at the moment. But if you bi-amp XPA-5 only to the bottom how much of there 300 watts do you lose. Then with top half being Onkyo 806 push about 100 Watts per channel to the top section.

IMHO i would try bi-amp with the xpa5, run one channel each from the xpa5 to the low's and high's. Doing it like this would still leave you one free channel and may give a more positive "separation" effect :)

I'm not 100% but i think once you hook up to your pre-out's the main AVR speaker out's are disabled  Don't hold me to that so maybe better to wait for someone with more knowledge to chime in ;)

don't think that is the case.. I did run my Peavey CS800 and Onkyo 807 together and that worked.
