Polk PSW-303 - No Output

Hey guys!

This is my first system, so I'll freely admit that I'm a n00b.

Receiver: Pioneer VSX-819h
Speakers: Energy Take Classic 5
Subwoofer: Polk PSW-303

I have it wired as follows: Rear and Center-channel are wired directly to the receiver, front is wired from the receiver to Speaker Out on the subwoofer, from the subwoofer Speaker In to the front speakers. (Figure 6 in the guide book).

I have tried literally every setting that I can find on my receiver, and just cannot get any sound out of the subwoofer. I've tried wiring it different ways (LFE <-> Subwoofer Pre Out, Back Surround L&R <-> Inputs on the sub, swapping speaker in and speaker out). I always get sound from the speakers, but NOTHING from the sub.

Please help! I going on four hours of messing with this thing and I'm pulling my hair out in frustration. It doesn't help that Pioneer's website appears to be on the fritz.

Is the power on in the subwoofer? :D

    Btw welcome to Club Polk

I'm not directly familiar with that particular model but other than the AUTO/ON/OFF power button, there's usually a power switch near the IEC cord anywhere near a fuse holder.

Yup, checked that it was on. That was my first step. :P

I currently have the ON/OFF/AUTO switch set to ON.

Ok, I figured you'd know about THAT power switch but I've had a few subs where there are 2. One usually being down near the power cord. Well, I'd say check your receiver settings to make sure the SUBWOOFER mode is ON but that means it should've worked when you hooked it up via speaker terminals. Do you have the gain at least half way up and the crossover set all the way up (to the highest #). Sometimes if the sub is set to its lowest cut off point, whatever source material you're using to test the sub might have frequencies either higher than your cut off so it's not sent to the sub, or too low for the sub to actually play.

Yup, there's another one. It was on too. Green power light on the back. :P

On the receiver, I just set "Crossover Network" frequency to 200Hz (50hz, 80hz, 100hz and 200hz are the options). There's a dial on the back of the sub labeled "Low Pass" that's currently set at 90hz (has options for between 60hz and 120hz), and the volume knob right next to it is halfway up.

    Thanks for helping, btw. :P

Either you posted wrong, or you wired wrong? Swap the speaker wires at the sub: FROM the rcvr. to the speaker IN on the sub, then speaker OUT from the sub, to the front L/R speakers.
