I found this to be humorous.....

Although the original ad was deleted, here's the gist of what was written. "For hire; Painter with experience, all tools and transportation needed for exterior work in Mint Hill, NC. You must have all tools including scaffolding, ladders, sprayers, sanders, scrapers and all other associated tools to perform work on a two story rental property I have. Must be particular and meticulous as well as a hard and fast worker. I am willing to pay $10.00/hr. Reply to......"

I saw this ad yesterday and though I'm in need of work right now, I did not respond. However, someone did respond today in a completely different CL post entitled "In response to painter ad"........

"Lets see...I provide thousands of dollars with of equipment and you pay $10/hour.

Your a cheap ****. I'm going to take the job...fall ...then sue you over and over again. "

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Yep, 'bout summed it up for me. :D I hope he got what he paid for and that the painter applies a water based paint over oil-based paint and that he oversprays all over this cat's brick and windows. Furthermore, I hope that he spills paint on his driveway right before he has to take a leak trailing paint all the way to the bathroom. That would be getting his money's worth.

Some people's kid's.........

That's the kind of crap I'm usually hired to clean up from those who are cheap asses and hired a cheap painter. They get exactly what they pay for. Then they hire me to save a $3,000.00 carpet and overspray on a half a million dollar house.

Spend a dollar, save a dime dumbasses! I used to see that alot, with one of our 'biggest' clients. **** would shop around OUR quotes to the lowest bidder, and we'd get a call saying their A/C isn't working, and it's under warranty.
Get there, find HACK work, chuckle, and go, 'Well, we didn't do THAT, so you're SOFL"

I've been a contractor for over 30 years, I love when you give a fair price for a top notch job and loose the job to a low baller.........then the customer winds up calling you back to finish the "low ballers" job, and fix all their mistakes too...... I charge more for the job than what my original quote was for......

Some people just don't understand what value for your dollar is. You get what you pay for...I have no sympathy for CHEEEEP ****.

Same goes the other way around too, not every dollar spent gets its due amount in quality workmanship either.

I can testify to that as well. That's why I'm leery of carpenters, etc.
And yes, I can understand people hating all trades, especially mine(HVAC), because I've worked for DUMBASSES!

Every trade has their scumbags, but you can't expect someone to do a $5000 job for $2500 and not cut some serious corners. That's not getting a bargain, your just setting yourself up for big time problems.

Consumers have to do their homework before hiring a contractor....check references, look at jobs they've done, get recommendations from reliable sources.

Don't give a 50% deposit, and before paying any progress money make sure the work was done, and done properly.

I've finish too many jobs that unscrupulous contractors have started, they took the money and never came back, most of the customers felt something wasn't right, and STILL paid the crook anyway. In the end they all knew they should have done things differently.

There are alot of dishonest people out there, but by taking that guy who want's 1/2 what everyone else is asking, is just increasing the odds that you'll be dealing with one of those jerks.

    Be smart.
