What Kind Of speaker do Bars use?

Hi Guys -

I just went to my local bar, and was wondering what kind of speakers do they use? I mean, it would kind of be funny to see like a tower speaker just hung on the wall, right.

Do they use speaker cones and just place them into the wall...The music is like so loud and everywhere. How would the music at bars compare to something like you guys own. AKA - Tower speakers

This is just a stupid question, but im curoius. No one at the bar knew, since they just work there.

I hate to say it, but I see a LOT of Bose systems in bars....and they sound like crap. Soooooo much compression, you can literally hear it pumping. (worse than FM radio)

I had some old Technics speakers ages ago that I thought sounded surprisingly good. Gave them to my brother, who was living with a guy who owns a sports bar. My brother moved to Switzerland, and it never occurred to me where the speakers ended up... until I went in the sports bar a few months ago. Sure enough, they had them way up high on a shelf. And surprisingly, they still sounded pretty decent, even at bar levels.

If they have a clue, they use JBL.

In my experience, they use the cheapest, loudest thing that they can get their hands on.
