When I graduated from HS in 1973, the whole parking lot at school was filled with all those classics. There were more GTs and SS's than you could shake a stick at. Man if I knew then what I know now, I would have bought up all those $400 used cars.

Here is the 2nd car I ever owned (warts and all) and still parked in my garage today. All original, including paint and carpet. Would have been real easy to sell when times were tough after I first got married but I managed to hold on to it.

That is so awesome! Amazing car, and just incredible that you've held onto it all these years. Awesome! :)

The goat was my Dad's favorite car. He never did own one but he sure would drool when one drove by.

There was a mint 1926 Lincoln that sold the day of this auction that I can't get the image from but daggum is that thing sweet. It sold for 102,000.00. Looks like it was worth every penny too.

I like to watch just to see how much Ron Pratte is going to spend.

He paid $5,500,000± for the Shelby Cobra Supersnake....

    carroll_shelby_cobra.jpg

$4,100,000 for the GM Futurliner Bus...

    ron%2Bprattjpg2jpg

$3,500,000 for the 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special Motorama concept car.

    ron%2Bprattjpg

A few more noteworthy vehicles that he has purchased...

    The Oldsmobile F-88 show car
    The One-Millionth Thunderbird
Tony Stewart’s 2007 Home Depot Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Jeff Gordon's 2006 No. 24 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    The Beverly Hillbillies Woody
The first 2008 Shelby GT500 KR Glass Roof
    Carroll Shelby's personal 1969 GT500 convertible
    The last Sting Ray
The first T-bird off the assembly line

Lots and lots of rare vehicles (including planes and boats)...and it is all in a private collection. No one can see it unless he invites them (rare) and he never gives any interviews about the collection.

Ron Pratte of Chandler, Arizona, is a multi-millionaire who sold Pratte Development (one of the nation’s largest wood framing and concrete foundation companies) to Pulte Homes at the peak of the Arizona housing boom and cashed out just in time to avoid the slump.

I wonder if he will have any money to spend at next years auction...

That's a photo I took a few months ago. Here is the engine which is original as well. I put a bigger carb and newer ignition system (but kept the original bolt on stuff of course) along with a few internal mods which can't be seen to help it go even faster. Bought it for $2200 when I was 19 which was a lot back then. It's a wonder I didn't kill myself in this car !

You rock! Please do not let go of her.

What am I saying? If you have held on to her for this long, there is nothing I can say to sway your mind. Beautiful.

Wow, thanks guys. Funny were talking about this because today I went to the store and I parked near a '66 Mustang fastback with a white pony interior which was in really good condition. I looked at it for a minute thinking you don't see those that often just sitting in a parking lot (especially fastbacks). Then when I came out it was gone and there was a GTO sitting in the same spot! It was in great shape and had the old Crager rims on it. Kind of a mini car show in October in Ohio of all places.

This is the exact vehicle sitting in my basement waiting to be restored...with one minor difference. Mine does not have the 428 SCJ as the one in this photo. I have seen the car pictured on several occasions and hope to get mine to this condition one day.

    2383865250_2e734f3f6f_o.jpg

It is my first car...purchased new in 1969.

This is what is in the other garage. A 1969 Mach I. New Lime Green with a white interior (instead of black as shown). It also has different wheels. (the ones on the poster were never available on a 69 Mach I...but are a popular wheel when restored).

    2311.jpg

I've owned it for about 18 years. It too needs to be restored.

Details: A very straight and solid vehicle. Very well equipped with 428 Cobra Jet Ram Air, close-ratio 4-speed, 3.50 Traction-Lok rear axle, power disc brakes, fold-down rear seat, AM/8-track radio, very rare tilt swing-away steering column and rare and beautiful Silver Jade paint. Also has Ford OEM air conditioning and power steering systems that are dealer installed from donor cars. A total rotisserie restoration, very well done, very difficult to fault in any way. Documented by Window Sticker and 2 Marti Reports. A one-of-one vehicle.

That is a loaded 428 CJ. Most came with auto rather than a 4 speed tranny, it has ram air and stuff like 8-track, air, tilt steering wheel, power steering, fold down rear seat...all of which are unusual on the CJs. It all appears to be factory options as well. Without all of that this is probably a $60-80K car. More like this 69' 428 CJ with auto and fewer options....

    79100_Side_Profile_Web.jpg

    It sold for $76K.

It would cost me nearly 40K+ get mine in that kind of condition...and that's not going to happen any time soon. Besides, mine is a 351 4V with auto. Not worth nearly what the CJs go for. Maybe in the $40-50K range in excellent restored condition.
