and while they are not nearly the quality the M70's are, Todays Frys ad (at least in Texas) is offering the Polk R50's for $59.00 a piece.

and Darnit.. figures that they would drop the psw 505 20 bucks after I had already ordered it and am expecting the shipment today... LOL.. certainly isn't worth refusing shipment and reordering though either for that little amount though.

How old are the R50's? I bought a pair on craigs about 4 months ago in mint condition for $100 bucks but didn't know much about them.

They've been around for a few years i think.

$100 bucks in mint condition is a good deal. That's what i sold my mint Cherry R50s for i think.

They aren't a terrible speaker by any means.

Considering that retail was $640 a pair...

I REALLY didn't like the highs on them for whatever reason. It may have been the Adcom amp i was driving them with at the time. I'm almost interested in trying them again on my Oinker, but i have a feeling that they won't compare to my current speakers again.

But, they ARE beautiful in cherry...
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I had thought of getting the cherry ones myself from Frys.com.. they would have been $200 shipped.. they were 69 a piece plus shipping but but for 40 bucks total more i got a pair of M60s from new egg shipped.. which is more than worth it in my opinion on those. If I also hadn't just ordered M40s for my rears I might've considered picking up the R50s up this weekend myself for rears.

When I bought them they were just needed to sit in the bedroom. Before everything arrived from my move I hooked up both the monitor 50s I was running in the living room and the R50's to see which I preferred. Going back and forth from the A/B on the same music, the Monitors had much better highs and were louder at the same level on the receiver. Overall the R50's do just fine in the bedroom on a stereo setup and I'm loving life with monitor 70's and 50's in the living room.

However, with deals like these going on between newegg and frys, my roommate needs to get rid of the sony trash he is running in the bedroom and upgrade to something that doesn't sound like crap.

You left your email in the link, might wanna remove that if you don't want spam.

Newegg had a promotion similar to this few weeks earlier. Bought 2 monitor 70's for $ 178 each. Also combined it with bing.com's 2% cashback :D.

I had something similar happen to me but on newegg, just called their customer service and they refunded me the price difference.

^ Great remote, had mine for over a year now with little to no problems. Only thing was that it would reset itself quite a bit until I folded a piece of paper by the battery to hold it in tighter. Thinking of picking up a 550 refurb for the bedroom at 60 from the egg.

Nice find, Pycroft. That is with FREE SHIPPING, btw. Shipping costs can sometimes be a deal killer, but not this time !
