Help with Monitor 10 Speaker

I have 2 speakers, Monitor 10. My parents bought them at a yard sale and theyve been in the garage for couple years. So today I decided to try them out and they sound fantastic, at least the one that works.
One has a muffled sound to it, I found out it has to do with the tweeter. I've seen on here that I should switch the tweeters to see if the problem follows it.
So I switched the bad tweeter over to the good speaker and no dice. Didn't work which meant it was a bad tweeter. But strangely, I switched the good tweeter over the the other speaker and it wasn't working. I switched it again to its original speaker and it worked fine. I'm guessing there must be another different problem with that speaker as well.
Does anyone have some advice on what I should check out with the speaker?

Is there a fuse on the back? Could be the fuse holder is corroded like it was on my pair of Monitor 10's and it's not making contact like it should. If there is a fuse, spray the fuse holder with contact cleaner and spray the other speaker's fuse holder as well.SDA SRS 2.3TL's

Apparently I have the original revision "Model 10" Speakers in case it's relevant.
If I need new fuses, where would I be able to get some? -

If they do have fuses and you don't have contact cleaner at the moment, remove the fuse and use a short piece of wire and run the wire through each small hole in the fuse holder. Play some music and see if there is sound coming out of the tweeters.SDA SRS 2.3TL's

Can you post a pic of the speakers, both front and back?SDA SRS 2.3TL's

Standard 1Amp Fast blow fuses--get them at Radio Shack or Home Depot, etc.
You could also borrow the one from the working speaker...
Otherwise, until you can do that--as michaeljhsda2 stated-just short the fuse terminals to see if you get sound back (don't crank it up too loud though).

I recall seeing something like that in another thread--where each 7C had one tweeter 'down' and one 'up' and somebody mentioned that one was a peerless and one an SL1000. Of course it could just be upside down.
I just saw the pics (can't see them at work), 2 fuses huh? My 10A's only have 1 fuse each.____________________

It matters not whether the tweeter is mounted up or down, it'll sound the same.Political Correctness'.........defined

I picked up a pair of tweeters from midwestspeaker.com that look like the original Peerless tweeters and they sound like the originals that I had before. This might be worth looking into, I think they were $44.95 and they have them in 4 and 8 ohm. Just look in the tweeter section near the bottom of the list. https://www.midwestspeaker.com/onlineshopping.asp

So I was checking out the fuse on the back and nothing.
This is what I did, I exchanged the fuses around. I put the fuses from the bad tweeter speaker over to the good speaker and they worked.
Then I put the good tweeter on the speaker that had the bad tweeter, and still nothing. It wasn't picking up the good tweeter. I was moving the sparks around and the tweeter wasn't playing out music.
But I did find out the bad tweeter just doesnt work but now I have an unknown problem with the speaker, It wont pick up the good tweeter so I have no idea whats wrong.
Any ideas?
Btw, I'm extremely grateful for all the help here.I picked up a pair of tweeters from midwestspeaker.com that look like the original Peerless tweeters and they sound like the originals that I had before. Looking at my speakers, which tweeters should I get? The MT-4115-4 or the MT-4115-8? -
Check for continuity between the binding posts/fuses to the crossover and from the crossover to the tweeter. If no problems are found there, you have a problem in the crossover. Look at the crossover for a burnt resistor and/or a leaky cap.Political Correctness'.........defined

Because I am not THAT speaker savy I wouldn't know how to check out what you've described. I took some pics, maybe you can see for yourself and help me out.

If you reduce the size/resolution of those pics, I'll look at them. Thanks.Political Correctness'.........defined

The binding posts are where your speaker wires connect. Then on the inside wires connect from them to the crossover board. The crossover is the collection of resistors, capacitors and inductors that splits or filters the audio frequencies coming in, sending the high frequencies to the tweeters and the low freqs to the woofer. The crossover is what you have in the pictures.
From those pics its hard to tell, but nothing looks fried anyway. Check all the wires make sure none of them are disconnected. I'm not sure where in the circuit the fuses come into play, but there will be wires so just check them (visually).
And/or, try swapping the tweeters, That will narrow it down to a problem in the crossover or tweeter (or fuse block).____________________

Would it be difficult to find some Model 10 speakers now for sale?
-
They show up every once in a while, but most are in pretty torked condition; when you get up into the $120+ range you can get some nice pairs.
-
where would be a good place to look out for them?

Well crap, I saw that barely today when the bid is over. *Sigh* -
I take it that the peerless tweeter is the one to have. I bought 2 pair this weekend one pair in rosewood with the peerless tweeters and another pair in Oak with the silver coil tweeters. Thoughts?

Peerless are easier on the ears and not as bright as the SL2000 (Silver Coil)

I've never comparred Peerless 10's with RD0 10's to see which sound better. That'll be a fun thing to try out.
Yes it would. I'll have to do that whenever i get around to getting some RDO's
