Overall Theater Experience

Well, with my much needed vacation in full effect, which was not by choice, I (as well as Sherardp) decided to finally make some changes in my H/T room for that more of a theater effect. It only took a day and a half to get it done and a total cost of $22 but I finally painted my ceiling as well as my screen wall flat black. Let me tell you this, this has been probably the best thing I've done to my room since it was completed a couple of years ago. I still need to either purchase new or just paint flat black the housings for the recessed lighting fixtures and or ceiling fans but as of right now they are working just fine being white. Since painting I've noticed my less reflection on the ceiling as well as much better black levels and now the screen just seems to be floating on the wall. As soon as I finish getting the room cleaned up I'll get some pictures posted as well as update my system showcase. Thanks Sherard for staying on my about getting this done but I sure as hell wished you would have been here to help me move that 400lb. a/v stand.:D

The walls are completely insulated with insulation as well as the ceiling and riser. The walls are constructed of double 5/8" drywall and while most of the sound stays in the room, it can be heard throughout the house, it gets pretty damn loud in there. As far as sound treatment for reflections, etc., haven't ventured down that road yet.

Very nice Rob, it came out perfect. I dont think the white housing on your can lights and fan will cause any problem. That room is perfect, and the black/blue color looks awesome. The end result should definitely render some improved image quality with your JVC. I'm jealous bro, that looks really good man.

Nice room! I hope that ceiling wasn't too difficult. I helped a friend paint his ceiling but he didn't remove the "popcorn" so it turned into a long, painful job.

    Enjoy!

Sweet--definitely looks great! I love the contrast between the Black and the Blue---

That's something I plan to do as well--I haven't figured out what I'm doing for the walls yet, but I will be painting the ceiling tiles and frame flat black.
