What a game played by the Tigers and Twins in Minneapolis tonight. The Twins stole the division from Detroit as far as I am concerned, but leading at the end is what counts.

I look for the Yankees to walk all over Minnesota, but at least the 'Dome gets sent off in style.

Any predictions for the playoffs, and who takes it all this year? I like the Yankees/Cardinals this year, but we shall see.

Being a lifelong Yanks fan I like your thinking! They owned the Twins earlier in the season but this is not the same team. They have that intangible momentum thing going for them right now...still, I would like to see the Yanks beat the Phils...but it would also be cool for me to see Torre back in the WS....I just can't stand Manny!

I would like the Twins also but the Yankee's have too much talent, and the Twins had to burn 8 pitchers last night to beat the Tigers. I like that the Metrodome gets to see one last playoff before the Twins open their new park next season, but I am afraid the they don't have enough gas in the tank to make their remarkable 17 for 21 streak last much longer.

I am getting tired of sports announcers basically saying it's a foregone conclusion the NYY will be in the WS!! I want to see that...but I'm getting tired of hearing it like they have no competition in the AL!! ...and yes, for the first time in my life I'll be rooting for Boston.

I knew if they made the playoffs, there is no way they would win. So at least, my disapointment is in the past. But boy, we could have used the attention and extra $$ playing post-season generates.

Overall, the way they finished the season makes me ill. But it was a great game, though.

Man. The Twins REALLY screwed the pooch tonight. Bases loaded, nobody out, nada. Then, of course, NY's hired guns win it in the next half. Way to go, Twinkies.

How did that ump call Mauer's ground rule double foul?? He was at most 15 feet away and missed the call completely. I think some of these umps are getting paid to F up. Not that it matters in that series because there's no way the Yankees were going to lose it, but I get irritated when they "miss" such an easy looking call.

Regardless...............when you leave 17runners stranded on base you deserve to lose :)......even with the bad call they had plenty of chances to take this one......will be there tomorrow at The Dome.......

I agree that call didn't lose them the game because the game never hinges on one call, but I just can't believe that he missed it. He was staring right at it and it hit about a foot inside the line and kicked up some dirt. It even hit Melky Cabrera's glove while in fair territory. I'm becoming suspicious of ref's and umpires more and more.

As am I... from second base, all it takes is a single for a run to score, and it may well have had an impact in this game. That said, the Twins should have won BOTH games in New York, but pitching meltdowns will burn you every time. It was such an emotional high to have won the division that the Twins have nothing left for anything else.
