....a good year for NEW friends.

....this is the second litter passing through.

The Spring brood were quintriplets. Most of them pass through sometime during the week.

...Tonite was first sighting of the NEW twins.

They are definite off springs of my "ole" friends. They were not afraid...of scary ole me or .........the MUSIC.

    Careful, those can be mean critters. There was a news story a couple days ago of an old women being jumped by a gang of raccoons when she went outside to shoo them away.

    ....I am sure their parents told them to watch out for those "HUMANS"....they carry Aides.

    ,,,this is my third season since my PUP (of 17 yrs) died. Nature is back. Each spring to winter a new batch passes through. Must be something in the water this year.......2 separate litters. The Twins today less than a month old. ...Fearless.

    I'm sure you are aware, but those little cuties have a mom nearby that is fierce. If she thought they were threatened, I wouldn't wanna be the threat. Just be careful. :)

    ....that is mom and dad in the other photo. the parents are regulars.....guess today was the first time the new twins went hunting for their own food.

    Lakeland, Florida -- A Lakeland woman is recovering from serious injuries in the hospital after sheriff's investigators say she was "gang attacked" by five raccoons Saturday afternoon.

    Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says 74-year-old Gretchen Whitted was trying to shoo the animals away from her front door when they suddenly attacked.

    "When she fell down, they enveloped her," said Sheriff Judd in a news conference called Sunday to warn the public of the aggressive raccoons.

    "She's literally bitten and scratched from face and the chest all the way down through the legs."

    Raccoons are known to be aggressive when going after food, but the sheriff called Saturday's attack very unusual.

    "Not in all my years in Florida have I known of a gang attack by raccoons on an individual," Sheriff Judd said.

    Christy Steinmetz lives next door to Whitted and ran across the street when she heard her neighbor's screams.

    "I've never seen anything like it," Steinmetz said of the attack and her neighbors deep wounds. "They were deep lacerations. You could see flesh."

    Sheriff Judd called a news conference Sunday to warn parents in the Lakeland neighborhood about the potential danger.

    "They've attacked once. If someone frightens them, will they attack again?" Judd asked.

    Polk County Animal Control officers fanned out, placing traps across the neighborhood, in hopes of finding the raccoons involved.

    "Even if we capture a lot of raccoons [Sunday night], we can't be sure they are our suspect raccoons," Sheriff Judd said.

    If caught, the animals will be killed to see whether they are rabid.

    ...Rocky is the one eating cookies from my hand. He was several years old when we met.....would come by every night and knock over a metal ashtray I had setup as a signal.....then I would feed him. Liked his chocolate cookies best. Rabies is not as common as people think. In cities there are less than 10 cases a year. Distemper is more of a problem.

    ....i have been feeding these guys for 5 months....they are use to me. I talk to them from the start so they get accustom to my voice. over the winter they disappear....and a new brood shows up the next spring.
