Bic f12
Does anyone have this Sub? What do you think of it? I know its the replacement for the H-100 and that has gotten pretty good reviews for its price point.. I'm at the point I think of going with this or the psw505. I really want to get my HT finished. The wife has pretty much given me carteblanche but its gotta be within reason and both of these are quite within reason as they can be had for less than half of msrp. at their current price points.
I'm also still tempted just to pick up a refurb PSW10 from polk direct once they list them again b/c its only$105 shipped if you buy it now but I know it shouldn't compare to the above two subs.

It always helps to know what other speakers your using, and how much your willing to spend.

Skip the PSW10. It isn't a quarter of the other two subs you mentioned.
I've always heard great things about the BIC subs, but I've never heard one. The 505 is an excellent sub for it's price point though. The nirvana inducer-

good point
2X M60s for front and a CS1 center... don't have rears yet though likely M40s
250 really is the max on a sub for now so I'm really trying to maximize my value.Main 2ch -

I agree with Curt, the 505 is a respectable "bang for the buck" sub. Skip the psw10.

With M60's...a PSW10 would be really inadequate. I'd just got for the 505.

yeah.. newegg has it for 250 too , but I found the BIC for $200 hence why I was trying to see if anyone could compare them at all...and that's what i figured for the 10, but still was considering it, but I'm pretty sold on one of the other two at this point.Main 2ch -

Like I said, I've never heard the BIC subs...but I've heard very good things about them. You can't really go wrong with either the BIC or the 505. Hopefully someone who has experience with both will chime in.
I'd pass on the 10 though...for the price they can be had at...they're "decent", but with larger speakers they can't quite cut the cheese. You're running M60's up front, which have considerable bass output on their own...the 10 wouldn't really add a lot IMO.The nirvana inducer-

I owned the sibling of the F-12 for a while, the Acoustech H100. The MSRP was $500, but you could use one of two eBay stores and get it with a best offer of $240 IIRC. It was a terrific entry level sub for Home Theater. Not nearly accurate enough for music though, IMO. It was considered by many to be the bargain of bargains as a first sub to start out with, if budget constraints were a major concern. I saw one of them sold used, here on CP, for $140 IIRC. I don't remember if shipping was extra or not.

Polk Audio has reputedly made a lot of progress recently with subwoofer performance (not even Polkies kept them long previously). I'm not sure about the 505, but all of these are 12" subwoofers, and all of them have decent amplification. All of them show a lower -3db limit below 30Hz.
I would certainly say the Acoustech H100 will give any enthusiast a hugely convincing Home Theater experience if this is their first subwoofer, or if they are upgrading from something less coinvincing (most HTiB, many entry level subwoofers in stores ...). The BIC F-12 may or may not be very similar (it looks that way from the specifications). The question regarding the PSW505 IMO is whether or not (1) it is as convincing a starter subwoofer for HT as the H100, and (2) is it a better performer for music ... which might swing the decision in its favor, when compared to the other two.Alea jacta est! -
I have hands on with a couple of the H100's. Very capable sub considering its low cost.
I have one installed at a friends house in a 1700 cubic foot room and with it corner loaded does a good job. -
Well looks like the F12's i saw for less than $200 already sold so i went ahead and ordered the 505 from the egg this morning.. woohoo can't wait.. along with the M40s to complete my 5.1 set.Main 2ch -
