Had a great Saturday but downhill from there....

My family went to the Va. state fair on Saturday at its new location and had a blast. We arrived at 10 a.m. and left around 6 p.m. By the time 6 o'clock rolled around I was ready to leave.

Wake up Sunday and our cat looked like something was wrong (she was 14). Over the last 2 weeks her health had been going downhill. So, Sunday morning she is jut laying on her favorite chair and not moving much or looking around. She looked pitiful and it broke our hearts. She did manage to stand at one point but she looked drunk, swaying back and forth and kinda shaking. It must have taken everything she had left to get up and give us some lovin'. The rest of the day after that she could not even hold her head up. Needless to say that happened for the rest of the day and evening. All of us (myself, wife, and my 2 children) said our goodbyes before we went to bed just in case she died overnight. We woke this morning and she was still with us but as soon as all of us had given her lovin' she died. Right there after my last breath of, "I love you" she died. Very hard to deal with and with 2 children sad it makes it that much harder.

Was on the phone this morning calling around to find out about cremation services, per a request from my daughter, and I get a call waiting beep. Click over and it's Wachovia saying they need to talk to me. Long story short......got a call a week ago saying our accounts had been compromised and we would be getting all new cards and account info. This call was to inform us that our accounts over the weekend had an unusal amount of activity. Needless to say our accounts have been completely drained of every last cent I have. So, now the fraud dept. is investigating and that will take some time. Whoever took our money did it from outside the country I found out. I doubt if they will ever find out who. So needless to say, if I had any hair I would have pulled it out. Been one hell of a Monday so far. Just goes to show you, just when you think everything is peachy, life can goto hell pretty quick.

Enough of my rant....... I have about 30 more minutes to myself then my wife and children will be home. I wish I had 2 days and 30 minutes to get my head straight, but I have to take the express route. My emotions have ranged from crying to wanting to rip someones head off. It's a good thing I am going to the gym around 6......I am going to beat the hell of the bag and run on the treadmill till I fall off the damn thing. Gotta do something to relieve this f'n stress.

Wachovia has a pretty good fraud department, so they should take care of you. Ask them to throw in a credit monitoring service for the next year so you get instant updates from any changes in your credit record. They have subscriptions they can give out, you just have to get to a CSR high enough in the food chain they are empowered to offer it to you.

My sympathies on your cat. My parents just lost their dog of 15 years, which was the only dog my 12 yr old daughter had ever known them having. My daughter is very heart-broke over it. I have a 16 yr old cat so I will be facing the same situation in the not so distant future.

I have an appt. tomorrow morning with our branch manager and everything should be completely explained then. Yeah, losing an animal is hard for sure. Harder than I expected by a long shot. I am taking my cat tomorrow morning to get her cremated and should be complete by Friday. Will cost $125.00 for the cremation and $15.00 for the urn with a little poem on it. The lady I spoke with was very nice and it was comforting to know our cat will be handled by someone who really loves animals. I am a train wreck but by tomorrow morning, I should be ok. This just sucks the BIG one though.

** For those that won the 2 Karmas from me, I will be sending them out Tues. afternoon or Wed. at some point. Kinda up in the air at the moment.**

Sorry to hear/read about your cat and bank accounts. When it rains it pours so be careful for a day or so. Hug the children, kiss the wife and crank some tunes.
    Good luck

Excellent suggestions......I have done all the above. The tunes will have to take a back seat tonight though, family dinner and then maybe a nice warm movie for us all to cuddle to. Nothing like spending quality time with the ones you love.

Branch manager is a good starting point, make sure you request to have one of their fraud specialists involved. Maybe the situation isn't that complex and the branch manager can and is trained to handle it, however it never hurts to have your request for help from their fraud specialists documented.

    Pat.

From what I have found out on the phone today with the investigator is that I can and will get my money. I will find out the details tomorrow. I hope to get good news.

Thanks to all for your kind words. Times like this remind me how lucky I am to have such an awesome wife and children. I would be nothing without them in all seriousness. They have helped me become the person I am today. Off to eat and watch a movie.

Terrible weekends around, sorry to hear about the losses here.

Also, something to think about is the insurance to prevent identity theft. I have some on my 2 kids, wife and myself. Its relatively inexpensive and they will do the work to clean up if someone takes over your name etc.

Dave Ramsey, love 'im or hate 'im- he's pretty smart with money, says that this type of insurance is a great great thing to have. The amount of time it takes to clear these mistakes up can be a huge hassle, and with this type of insurance, the insurer handles the harder, more time consuming aspects.

You would think it sounds frivolous, but in the rare (but ever increasing) instance that you fall victim to fraud, this is the **** to have.

I know what it is like to lose a pet. We had to put our dog down a few months back it hurt us all. I have no idea how bad I am going to be when my best pet Tiger dies. She is still in good health and act like a kitten sometimes. I just know she misses and cries for me every time I am not there at night. It will probably crush me when she dies. Which I pray will not be for a long time.

As for the money thing. Money is money they are insured and you are probably to you will get it back. Keep your chin up.

    Update.

Just got back from a meeting with the branch manager. To make this short.......I have new accounts and my money will be in there as of 12 midnight tonight. I will then have acccess to it as of 7 a.m. in the morning. Thank goodness for having an account with them for so long. I know this will sound a little strange, but from what I think, it has something to do with the amount I had in savings with them. I do not think they wanted to lose me to some other bank. The manager was only able to do so much at the local level. Come to find out though, this is the only thing the manager had been working on since yesterday. I kinda felt like a VIP or something. Wachovia handled this situation WAYYYYY better than I expected. Whew!!!!! Glad this is almost over.

My cat is now at the crematory and I will be picking her ashes up on Friday if all goes well. The guy that helped me was very nice and took his time. It's very refreshing to know that she is in such good hands. On the way back I stopped by the SPCA and just hung out for a little while. I almost brought another cat home but in the end decided not to. I don't want my wife or children to think I am trying to replace our other cat and my daughter is probably not ready for another animal as of yet. It did take every bit of self control not to walk out with a new cat. I did look kinda funny though going to the meeting this morning with cat hair all over me though. Not a little hair mind you, but a crap load. I did get it off with a roller the manager had in her drawer. Kinda funny if you were to see me in there rolling myself during the meeting, lol.

Tell ya what man, sometime soon, we'll have a few rounds of good brew.

Sounds like a plan. I will give you a call in the next week or so. I am starting a new gig tomorrow that is from 10-6 Mon.- Sat. I do get a dayoff during the week but it will vary depending on what's going on. Once everything has setled down from that we can jam and throw a few back. Still looks like Oct. is going to be good:D
