Need price advice on Carver CT-17

I have a chance to Sonic Holography Pre CT-17 and a CD player TL-3200 for just under $300. Is it a good buy for that price?
Seller says it is a very good condition (like new) and original single owner.
This will go for my 2ch - Carver TFM-45 driving SDA-1C

    If it's in good condition it's not a terrible price. Make sure it has a remote though.

    That is a good price if you get the remote for the CT17. Plus there should be a remote for the TL3200. It has volume control on the cd player also.

    I agree with Paden501 and thuffman03. If the componets have their remotes you really can't go wrong.

    The CT-17 is a pretty nice Pre. I'm using mine currently with my 1Cs and it sounds very nice. The remote is an added bonus. I really don't have much bad to say about it in my experience with it so far (I've only had mine for a few weeks now).

    I can't speak for the TL-3200, as I've never heard or owned one. I have a SD/A-450 from Carver though and it sounds pretty nice.

    I'd say go for it if you have the money.

    If you can get him to cut the price and keep the TL-3200, do it.

    Yeah, I agree Skip. The TL3200 is not a very good player. I speak from experience.

    Picked up both Pre CT-17 :D and CDP TL-3200. Both are in a very good condition with remotes as well.
    It Sounds awesome. Playing some Zakhir Hussain Tabla and sounds so clear. It is not hooked it up to the SDA-1C yet.. These are driving my Monitor 50s and thy sing very well too..

    Hi,

    I'm wondering if anybody can be any help with my CT-17 Pre-Amp. If I'm in the wrong section, please point the way.

    Anyways, the problem is:

    I get most of my audio through one channel. The balance knob is adjusted at center so no problem with that. There is no problem with power amp as I have tested with two of them. When I switch the pre-amp to hologram, there is some noise present on the other speaker. The audio will switch to the other speaker when I switch the audio wires. Also, the audio coming over the regular pre-amp channels sounds like I'm getting some distortion. When I switch to remote output, the sound is great, but I have no direct control over it from the front panel switches.

    If anybody that can help has suggestions, please let me know. If more information is needed, please let me know. Thanks.
