Dual 1264 turntable disassembly

I recently unboxed my Dual 1264 after it sat for probably 15 years. Everything worked at first except the tonearm wouldn't auto-return at the end of an album. Now it won't auto move to the lead-in when I hit start (the tonearm lifts but doesn't move and after a few seconds it shuts of).

Hopefully some dustblaster and maybe some strategically placed lube will fix it. But I don't see how to get the main table assembly out of the frame. I've got the platter removed and the center post with the circlip out, but I can't seem to lift it out.

Any guidance on what retainer I'm missing that's keeping it in place?

I did actually, but I had the owners manual already and they don't have the service manual. A similar model that they did have the SM for, didn't describe removing the table unfortunately. Thanks for the tip though, and I didn't know about vinylengine just a few hours ago.

Here's a photo. Maybe that will help in pointing out where I stick the crowbar ;o)

Back the 3 screw's on the sub-platter off 3/4 turn and pull them toward's the spindle, lift and it should come out :)

Ah, I see now. Thanks. I was definitely not expecting those screws to work that way. It's pretty clever actually.

Here's a photo of the underside "clockworks." Any known problem areas for lube and cleaning I should concentrate on?

N/P I just learned that the other day when we dropped our table's off for service! lol

AFAIK the main clean/lube point's would be the spindle bearing's and the tonearm bearing's, i would also clean/lube ANY moving part. If you need some more help try sending an email to Robert @ http://www.all-electronics.com/html/contact.html He is a GOD when it come's to Dual's :)

Don't know if you know of this site http://dual-reference.com/ has most of the manual's/owner guide's that may have some info for you. As mentioned vinylengine.com has a wealth of TT info as well.

Hope you get it sorted quickly! Vinyl is a terrible thing to waste!!! :D

Hey Bubinga i did a lil' mod to my 505-3 tonight since i was bored :o

These dual's have a pretty light, hollow base which can create resonance and distort the sound so i went to Futuresh1t and picked up a few pack's of dynamat for $11ea (doing 2 TT's) and lined the base :)

Gonna give 'er a go tomorrow AM and see how she sound's :)
