Long-range sub connection.

I have to use my subs in the back of the room due to space limitations. I want the cable hidden, so I'll be routing it thru walls and in the crawl space.
For the thru wall application, is better to run the cable straight from the AVR to the sub using a "2 gang wall plate" or link cables together using something similar to the "RCA wall plate" setup? Is there a difference in sound quality?
Or is there another setup that can be used?
"RCA wall plate" (similar to link)
