An irony - We needed faster and stronger Wi Fi so the singnals can pass through walls. Now, we need to stop that signals from passing through walls.

Lol
I remember at one time not having internet and finding a free signal here or there, or even when I traveled. Some people just need a basic-know-how of making sure their signal is encrypted. When I was walking my dogs yesterday I saw a woman take roughly 20 minutes parallel parking in the opposite direction of a One-Way street....I told her it's illegal as far as I know of in several states (Im from CA.) and she was mad pissed to have to turn her car around. So many idiots in the world :rolleyes:Truck setup

Nearly any signal that can be seen can be hacked; there's nothing more secure than having the actual signals be blocked.
This is huge overkill for most people but to say it's the same as a little router security is disingenuous. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

There's a neat little device you can buy from non-US websites that will block cell phone and wireless signals. A major fast-food chain is starting to install them in all drive-thru's.DKG999

Uhh, I would seriously doubt that last part is true considering they're illegal in the US. Ther'es a reason you have to get them on "non-US websites"If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
If your network security is absolute important, just don't use WiFi router or disable WiFi in the router. Just run regular old fashioned Cat 5/6/6e RJ45 Twisted Pair from the router to the computer. It's probably cheaper than the Anti WiFi Paint and runs a lot faster than WiFi too.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin:

I think most of these devices do not comply with FCC regulations for Wireless Transmission or not yet approved by FCC.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
Not illegal to possess, but illegal to sell. That's my understanding and so far no problems that I have heard of. My friends who import goods from the asia-pac region have sold their 3rd container load to websites in Canada and Mexico and they report that most sales are to the US, with several hundred units going to the previously mentioned fast-food chain for their drive-thru's. I'm still waiting to get my units, but I've been out to dinner when they've had them and it's fun to watch everyone in about a 50' radius wonder why they can't get any signal.
Like all good things, I'm sure there's a law someplace that will get enforced sooner or later to prevent this. Back to tinfoil hats after that!DKG999

I was working at a large customer site for several months. They put up a trial
Wifi that was supposed to be secure. That only took about 4 hours to get hacked from outside. They took it down, came up with plan b.
That took about 40 minutes for somebody to hack in. It's been 4 or 5 years,
and they haven't tried again since then.

Yep TEMPEST controls. I was about to say another purpose would be to keep somebody else's unwanted signals OUT of your space, or in the case of secure areas, you don't want somebody in an unsecure area sniffing around stray signals (wifi or not) that might be emanating from the secure area.
There are so many wireless devices and other appliances that can cause interference to your home Wifi or even business wifi, that it sounds prudent to keep them out. Less disruption to your home or business network, especially if they are all fighting over the same RF bandwidth.
I could also see this in use at Hospitals and airplanes and such where there is a concern for any impact to sensitive electronic equipment.____________________

My home network is hardwired.
Then they didn't do it right--its called mitigation of risk-How many auto accidents happen everyday-yet we all still go to work and risk our family and our own lives....
At a minumum, in public spaces, the Wifi should only connect to a network segment that is isolated--so that no harm would come even if somebody plugged in a Cat5 cable directly. Then the authorized user, once connected would VPN in to the more secure network (with split tunneling disabled).____________________

I am not happy about people on their cell phones at the movie theater, but wifi blocking paint may not fix that anyway--
For me I have more of a concern for safety if my cell is blocked. Actually I am glad I CAN get reception in a movie theater on my cell. I can have peace of mind that if an emergency situation arises, that I can get the call from the sitter--I always put the phone on vibrate--I instruct the sitter that if they need to call me to call twice. I don't answer or even look at the phone the first time--If it vibrates a second time, then I leave the theater and see who called and deal with it without disturbing everybody else.
Same goes for my concern for any First Responders such as EMS or fire fighters--you really don't want the dispatch tones not getting to their pagers now do you??
I'm pretty sure some hospitals, since they have poor indoor reception just because of the construction, actually have special antennas to repeat their "closed circuit" pages for the Drs, nurses and what not.
**sorry for the triple post--different topics and didn't wnat it to get too long (I know too late )
Actually Glass is a pretty good WiFi blocker--I wonder if Fiberglass would work the same...____________________

Everything I've found has said that they are indeed illegal to sell OR OWN, it's just near impossible to CATCH someone owning / using one. The fine is 11 grand if they do catch you though so you'd better REALLLY hate cell phones. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I think it would be more fun (except in a theater) to set off one of those personal alarms near the 'annoyer' and pretend to have a lot of trouble figuring out how to turn it off ;):D
I used to annoy the crap out of my brother whenever he would piss me off---He would be playing guitar in the house way too loud and to annoy me---so I would go outside in my car and key up on my tweaked and externally amped CB--all he would hear on his amp was me saying "AAUUUUUUUUDDDDDIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOO--Check check-Breaker 19...AAAAAAUUUUUUDDDDIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOO....." :D:D:D
Used to also hear the CB bleed over on 7-11 intercoms and the McD and BK drive ins as well. Some of my CB buddies were running so hot that nearby street lights would dim. We used to have triangulation games where we would all communicate on sideband channels and what not to track down the location of a piss-ant troublemaker who thinks hes tough behind the anonymity of the CB---once we tracked him down, the guy with the most powerful linear amp (one that usually requires extra car batteries and a second alternator to power it) would drive up next to him---If the poor shlup keyed up while the power dude keyed up--you would see smoke coming from the guys rigs--and goodbye output trannies :eek::rolleyes:....
Ahh the good ol days. external amps-tweaking alternators-tweaking wires (antennas)--hmmm feels like I just came full circle to this audio thing....Man i guess its good you can't do that sort of thing here at CP, because its all the same kind of crap here.:cool:____________________
