Great sounding speakers, they sound very similar to my 1.2's with less bass.
fantastic job you did with those 1.2s - just beatifull work. I myself am feeling the urge for bigger, better. my little 2b's cut out at modestly loud levels.panasonic th-50pz85u

Those are Carver Platinum MkIV's. If you can get them for less than $800, you got a steal if the ribbons work and the woofer surrounds are OK. You can still get replacement woofers for $80 ea (there are 4 per speaker) and have the ribbons re-built for $400 ea, or $700 for the pair. They were the last Carver ALS made. I prefer the standard Plats as they don't have the adjustable x-overs and four binding posts so you can bi-amp, but the MKIV's do sound great. You need massive amounts of high current power to drive them though as they are only about 86db efficiency. I bought my plats for $500, installed new woofers and rebuilt the ribbons. Best speakers I've heard for less than a $2000 investment.

I have Platinum MK.IV's, and they have but two binding posts.

Those are a pair of Carver ALS Sliver MKIV's, not Platinums.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~
