a couple questions on set-up

Hi guys,
on my dvd there is a progressive out that has been set to off since I set-up the HT. The owners manual is a little unclear as to what this really does and what benefit there would be to putting it on. Also on my reciever there is a filter setting 100,150 and 200 what would be the best settings for my set-up would you recomend without loosing any low-end. I was just goofing around this morning and thought I would ask. I have the front speakers going through the 202 and the 550 connected to the LFE, sub setting set to max and filter setting on 200. Would there be any setting in the dvd player to help eleminate the layer pause in movies? Just trying to tweek the system until I can get the SVS sub and poss. upgrade to even better, happy for now though.
