First problem with a MIT cable --

One of my Shotgun S2 ICs has developed a problem. Infact, it made me laugh...

The left cable of my 1m pair - the end that connects to the destination has disconnected myself. I dont mean like a bad solder joint - I mean like I can slip the connector off like a glove... lol

I guess I am going to have to get that fixed eh?

Yeah two weeks without left channel is bogus... lol

Ill have to weigh my options -- I can pay my stores tech to resolder and have it back in 20 minutes or pay to ship it and have it back in 2-3 weeks.

Hi there Sid: your cable (most MIT Cables are like this) has a locking barrel connector that is to be tightened, once it slips onto the male RCA. Hold the cable in your left hand, and rotate the outer barrel clockwise against it, (your hand) until snug. This should make a connection that you can pick up the component by, You stated that it did not need resoldering, so I don't understand the need to anything other than take a picture and contact MIT for the correct answer to this problem. Sometimes this style connector, while one of the best money can buy, will confuse people. Good Luck!

Hello Steve: I am the current VP of MIT Cables in Rocklin California, and have been here since July of 1997. Prior to this I was VP of Wilson Audio in Provo Utah, for a similar length of time. Since 1989, I have acquired quite a bit of experience connecting products from most high end manufacturers, so I like to clear up confusion whenever I think I can help. Thank you for asking.

Great cables and I like the locking RCAs. I just wish I could have afforded the S1 shotguns but the S3s are very sweet espeically with matching speaker cables.

Never heard back from OP if that was the issue but it sure sounds like it.

The cable came completely desoldered -- I could fully remove the connector.

But if I positioned it just right to where the cable itself pushed against the contacts it would work...

But I asked one of my techs at work to hook me up!

    All is well!

    Thanks for the reply!

Welcome to Club Polk, Kent. It seems some of us have developed quite a fondness for your companies product. Please stay in touch.

If I might ask, how did you find this particular thread?

    Sid,

quit wacking your cables, we know they sound good and make you want to handle something but find a blow up and leave the MIT's alone.

some good MIT deals on the Gon, the new Shotgun are out, so close out deals on the Shotgun line we are familiar with, I have a set of shotgun pro-line balanced on the way.

Sure; Our community is very small, but focused intensely on our hobby. I was called by a consumer who read the thread and felt I needed to do something to help Sid! You see, if people believe a product is a good product they take it personally when they think someone might be "taking a shot at it". I was just trying to help when it was needed.
    Thanks for asking, Kent
