Just thought I'd post this up for any of you Toyota/Lexus owners. I guess the floor mat would get up underneath and get stuck or something? Anyway here you go!

Wife was like..."oh hey our car isn't there!"

I got something about this more than once over the last two years. I thought it was certain mat, weatherized ? Anyway, the point was, that it was a known issue.

Weird, if it's been a known issue over 2 years ago (assuming its the same one) then why would the problem extend torwards the 2010 models?

You're right though, at least it's acknowledged.

The issue is simply that people are "doubling up" their floor mats. In other words, they're leaving the carpet mats in place and putting the "all weather mats" on top of them. Sounds pretty elementary, but that's what's causing the problem(s).

Toyota isn't the only manufacturer that can/could have this problem.

a buddy of mine with a 03 mustang got his accelerator stuck under his floor mat. made for an interesting show in the parking lot. Luckily he just ended up doing a massive burnout instead of wrecking into other cars

The mat I have is carpet, and wasn't on the recall, but the OEM rubber mat was recalled in 2007. Drive by wire sucks too.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Toyota Motor Corp. says it will recall floor mats in its 2007 Lexus ES 350 and the 2007 Camry models that, if not secured in place, could slip and get trapped under or over the accelerator. This could cause a car to accelerate even after the driver lifted his or her foot off the gas pedal.

Toyota (Charts) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a consumer advisory Wednesday urging all owners of the affected models to make sure all driver's side all-weather floor mats are secured before driving.

While not affected by the recall, NHTSA also urges drivers of other Toyota models, including Avalons and Prius hybrids to make sure floor mats are installed correctly.

Good to see Toyota step up to one. I used to be a quality manager with GM and I remember GM always getting blasted for our number of recalls vis a vis Toyota.

We had a whole team dedicated to product problem resolution and stepped up to our problems. We watched Toyota dance around so many problems it was sickening.
