Sorry, meant PS3, forgot to let go of the shift button, lol. Man, I really hate you guys. The more I am around here, the more I want to buy/have, lol. I don't do a lot of music listening and my gear is hardly a 2 ch. listners dream but by no means are my 70's slouches in any department as fas as I am concerned. Great post in the other thread about the SACD's RT1, now I know which SACD players I will never be able to afford, lol. On a more serious note, I do have one of the "good" PS3's that supports SACD playback, has anyone had any experience with the PS3 as an SACD player? I'm sure it isn't going to knock my spcks off but will it atleast give me a warm fuzzy, and show me what I am missing? I don't want to go out and drop the cash for a SACD if the PS3 isn't atleast going to do it justice. Thanks for the help and sorry if this is a little repetative, didn't want to thread jack the other SACD thread going.

They're about the same price as a regular CD really. Find a list of SACDs available, find a hybrid on there that's a CD you don't already have anyway and worst case you're out an extra buck or two and can still play the CD side.
My PS3 does not do SACD, so I can't comment on your question directly.
P.S. If you don't already have Dark Side of The Moon, I'd start by purchasing the 30th anniversary edition of that one, as it is a hybrid disc. The same can be said for Brother in Arms if that's more your style. -
Sounds good, I will probably spring and give it a shot. Hopefully someone has some experience and can comment on the PS3's ability in the meantime. Thanks for the reply.

I have a 60g PS3 and have listened to SACDs. Some sound great in surround sound like DSOTM but others sound better in 2 channel SACDs.
I think the 2 channel SACD sound better than standard CDs.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

wise decision and you are OFFICIALLY out of the kiddie pool, ok maybe a few more baby steps but your certainly on the way. One of the best SACD recordings, I got you hook, line and sinker with one note is Albert King, I play the Blues for you, I am pretty sure it is still in print.
I started into Hi-Rez the same way as you, with an inexpensive player to see if it floated my boat and as they say the rest is history.................

I don't have many SACD's yet...just DSOTM and the two Allman Brothers SACD's...They're all excellent though. DSOTM especially...an amazing sounding album. The nirvana inducer-

I have an 80gig PS3 that does SACD playback. It is about as good as my Pioneer Elite DV-79AVi universal player in the SACD playback department. I like the Pio because it also does DVD-Audio playback and I have a lot them.SDA-1C (full mods)

LOL, thanks RT1 I have been waiting forever to dangle my feet back in the big boy pool and I think I am ready, lol. I am getting more and more curious by the minute and thanks to a couple of firsthand experiences by thsmith and Fongolio, I think I am ready to see what the PS3 has to offer. I'll look into the Albert King suggestion and DSOTM is def. on the list as well. Thanks guys, I officially hate all of you, you are killing my wallet, lol!! God knows if I like it I will want a dedicated SACD player and deeper I fall!!
