Hello every one my names joe

I just wanted to share a great deal on a denon 2500btci bdp . It can be had for $243 shipped from overstock .After reading reviews I decided this would be best value next to the $500 oppo bdp

The overstock coupon page gives you the $10 towards the $251 cost but usually it retails for $279 . Thats still pretty reasonable compared to other prices I have found not to mention it cost $1000 upon release . The reason I bought it was because of the tanklike build quality and the hybrid disk drive that eliminates vibrations

I would love to hear any feedback from the experts on the forum . I have a ton of other questions but I will save them for another time

Sorry F1 perhaps I should have been more specific

The feedback from others I would like to have would be in regards to the denon 2500btci . Anything helps no matter how insignificant . At this time I am scouring the net for information on how it handles a basic cd

I have found only 4 reviews from professionals but nothing has been said on the cd topic that helps . It seems like I may just have to wait until it gets deliverd

    Gotcha.
It seems like I may just have to wait until it gets delivered

That's always the best way to judge a piece of gear. I hope you like it.

That Denon is a transport only. It only has HDMI output. It does not have any DACs inside, audio or video. For CD playback, you will have to send it by HDMI to the receiver and have the receiver process the signal.

For the price, its a pretty good deal (compared to the original $1k price), but as I recall, its basically a 2nd generation Panasonic BD drive inside a Denon shell. It won't have BD Live and the start times won't be as good as the latest 3rd/4th gen players.

It doesn't really compare at all to the Oppo player. The Oppo has onboard decoding for all Bluray and DVD audio formats, it outputs superlative quality video, has top tier upscaling and deinterlacing (something the Denon is severely lacking, just like the other 2nd gen Pannys). The Oppo also plays back SACD and has full analog outputs. Really no comparison.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Also known to have issues with reliability. Don't know how they screwed up Panasonic's design.

Based on this, would anyone dispute the now 299.00 PS3's as a better option to his Denon?

    +1 for the sony...

I fully agree with all the comments above mentioned but this bdp does label itself as a transport only. I guess the main thing thats important to me is bluray functionality remains untouched

Sure its awesome that a bdp can decode the internal audio and process video . The fact is that there are so many high end quality av processors being released on to the market as we speak . These av components are becoming far more capable of delivering superior audio and video than the current generation of of bdp's trying to do it alone

I find the denon's hybrid anti-vibration drive mechanism very appealing to be paired off with such a high quality component

The denon is very sexy ,weighs 21 pounds plus you can tell everyone it costs a thousand bucks . With the way it looks no one would argue

I am not sure it's just a rebadge from the Panny or not but the 20/30 does not impress me though since reliability is the main issues with Denon less than $4k products. Google AVS forums you will run across complaints with reliability of the 2930ci dvd ( Msrp $899.00) and the drop-off 5db on LFE for the 2500btci. Back in the 80s, Nr. Tillig ( stereophile) really loved the Atoll products. Suprisely the Atoll CDP ($999.00 MSRP) was nothing more than the $70.00 Technic CDP with a different looking cage. Forget the model since it's a while back. I love to have that 2500 btci on my rack @ give-away price but as I asked in different post that would it be an expensive brick after the warranty runs out and no 2500 btci waging in for the answer.

The 5db increase on the sub has been addressed via firmware

The ps3 has had its share of problems also the new one looks cheap and is slower than the old model

just found out my protection plan is not an extended ontop of the manufacturers warranty . This means I only have 2 yrs intead of 3 hmmm . overstock said that I can add another 2 bringing the total to 70 for the 4 year protection . This sucks up the savings

Does any 1 have knowledge of warranty extention plans from elsewhere . The said at overstock that I cant contact the manufacturers to get one from them
