Mounting Surroundbar atop a plasma?
Hi -
Just bought a Surroundbar (the 42" original) and I read the owners manual on-line.
That manual said if the top of your TV was less than 3" deep, contact Polk and you could buy a special bracket.
Well, i called Polk today and they told me there was NO way to mount my Surroundbar on top of my TV.
Uh-oh!
The cabinet my 42" Panasonic plasma is sitting on is too narrow for the speaker to fit on it.
I don't want to drill into the wall to mount it there.
So my only option is to figure out a way to mount it on top of the tv.
Help!!!

What I'm missing here? How does the Surroundbar mount under the Plasma? Does it need to sit on a cabinet or something and not hang?

No, my plasma isn't mounted to the wall. It's sitting on a stand and the cabinet that the stand is on is too narrow to hold the speaker, too.
So i want to mount it ON TOP of the plasma. -
Here is my idea, just get a couple of 1/8" x 1.5" metal straps long enough to screw into the (2) sets of mounting holes on the of back of the plasma (for mounting the plasma to a bracket) and then drill holes for the bolts. Connect the straps to the included wall bracket with through bolts. It looks like the wall bracket must be at least 32" wide since they show it mounting to 2 studs.

Some to think about, how high is your plasma? This will not be the optimal position for the SB as like any other speakers the tweeters must be at hear level. If this is your best location, make sure you use the tilting ability of the provided SB brackets to aim th SB toward your hear level at the sitting position.
Cheers!

it looks like it could be mounted to the back of the TV...even if you had to drill new holes.
check the drawing against your mounting holes....
there yah go....
