Hi! I'm new here and just picked up a pair of 10b's hooked them up to an old kenwood KR-750 receiver (60 wpc) and they seem to have no low end. I was reading around the site for about an hour to see if I could find out anything and I'm still at a loss. When I push the PR in the drivers don't move on all 4 and all 4 are very hard to move in, I don't want to break them, but could they all be shot. I took one out and found no numbers, just a date of 1984. Could it be the fuses? They look ok but I haven't tested them. Any help with my first set of polks would be appreciated, I was going to buy a pioneer sx 1250 to hook up to these. Thanks, Mike

Welcome to CP! Sound bad on your mid-bass drivers. If you get no movement while pressing in on the PR, and they are hard to move in, they are probably shot. Sounds like bad voice coils. If the cabinets are in decent shape, I would keep 'em. What style tweeter does it have? If they are black they are Peerless and one more reason to hold on to them. Hopefully you didn't give a bunch for them-so you'll have more dough to fix 'em up!!

They are silver tweeters and I would like to keep them, but where and what should I replace and where should I get them? Thanks, Mike

Talk to Ken at Customer Service. The man is amazing. Tell him your problem and he will be sure to set you up with the parts you need. Sounds like some new mid-bass drivers will get you going. Tell him you're a Club Polk member and get free shipping.

Bummer....Before you toss them, pull out each of the MW's and test them each separately direct with the speaker wires from your Amp, but on LOW volume. Look for the red dot at the speaker connection. That is Positive/Red speaker wire.
Also, there should be Model #'s on all of them, IF they are Polk Speakers. Usually white label with blue lettering. They should all say "Polk Audio" and MW 65xx below that. Later drivers hada sticker on the side of the magnet, but yours should be on the back.
Let us know what specific model #'s you have.
The silver tweeters are SL1000's. Replacements are the RDO-194 from Polk (or here if you get lucky)
Also, the fuses just protect the tweeters.
Also pull out your crossover and make sure nothing is toasted on there... Burnt resisters or ooozing capasitors is BAD. -
Hi Again, Sorry I missed the obvious, all 4 say mw6600x and all vibrate and play music without any decent speaker movement like the baby advents I just refoamed. Black labels on all dated 1984. Thanks, Mike
