    WHAM! Andrew Ridgeley!

I think I speeled his name right?

Saw him flicking through channels on an E! celebrity gossip show. I missed the gossip but caught the picture and the announcer said it was him. I was quite surprised. He doesn't look bad but looks completely different bald.

Come on, you can do it too. Personally, I'm going to put in my last ditch effort at growing a mullet before I turn into Andrew Ridgeley....hair-wise :D

Ok! He was a teen idol in the 80s. Now, he becomes a geezer idol in today's standard. Still Pretty Cool!

His significant other is a member of the 80s female vocal group, Bananarama ("I Heard A Rumor", "Venus", etc.)

Knowing what we know now about George Michael and seeing that Wham! Album cover, I find new humor behind the meaning "MAKE IT BIG"

    :)
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

I don't think his career went south because he sucks. I think he just bailed on the whole thing. I know he still composes music for theater shows and has some writing credits for other bands. He's not an untalented guy, just not a fan of the spotlight. He owns a restaurant somewhere. I think it was called Bar29 or Bar 92 or something? He's also in to motorsports and races regularly enough that I've seen him mentioned in standings for various races in European amateur and semi-pro categories.

Then again, WHAM! was so big and George Michael had such star power that neither of them ever needs to work again. Several songs from WHAM! get played on "Easy Listening" and "Adult Contemporary" stations around the world regularly and they constantly have songs featured in movies and TV shows. They can live off of residuals fairly comfortably. That and people likely still buy WHAM! albums. Not to mention, "Last Christmas" is on a bunch of compilation Christmas albums and was on "Now That's What I Call Christmas" which went multi-platinum and "Last Christmas" was featured on that album. On top of that, Weird Al still sells copies from every album he has ever made and he has several WHAM! song parodies and Ridgeley is listed as an original and/or contributing artist on Weird Al's albums.

Yeah, dude ain't hurtin' in any respect, disappeared from the spot light and lives a life most people would envy. Best part is, I think it was entirely intentional.

Sometimes what we wish for in our dreams (i.e. becoming a popular pop/rock star) ain't what it turned out to be in reality. The touring and promotion of albums can be quite a turn-off if one doesn't like that sort of thing (as opposed to just making music), especially at the intensity at which Wham! was doing for a few years.
