I just got a call from my Son, he just arrived at his Marine base in Southern California after serving his second tour in Northern Iraq.

I can't tell you how good it feels to know he's back Safe & Sound in the Great U.S.A.

Now we have to wait until early November until has leave and can come Home to NJ., it's been almost a year since we've seen him.

Wow, what a Great day!!!!:D

    Thanks Guys & Gals,

They're giving him a few days off, so he's spending some time in Palm Springs, then off to Vegas to raise some hell......well deserved R&R.

Just a Special Thanks to all the Polkie's who responded to my thread and sent Care Packages to the troops...

Glad he's home safe, especially after two tours. Here is a good book about the US Marines: A combat history from Iwo jima to Iraq. The book is called "American Spartans" by James A. Warren. A must read for Jarheads and parents of Jarheads.

    Thanks Bill,

His Grandfather (a decorated WWII Veteran) sent this book to him last year. I hope he brings it home with him so I can read it.

    That's good to hear!

Honestly, the things I've read about your son make me think more about how my parents felt when I had gone to iraq over and over again (3 times). I remember paying her a visit at the school she worked at when I got back, and all her co-workers would tell me how she talked about me every single day, how she cried during lunch and just missed me so much. I hope your son understands what loving parents he has :D

Good to hear Jimmy. Thank him for his service, I know how tough being deployed is. Probably been deployed about 15 times myself since joining the Air Force in '98, not gone as long as those Marines are, but I go atleast 2 times a year myself, for about 120 days at a time.

That's great! Let him know that his service and selflessness is very apreciated! And thanks to you for supporting your son's choice. My son is only a toddler and the day that he mentions the possibility of military service I am sure I will be worried and concerned, but I also know I will be proud to have a son who is willing to give for his freedom and all of ours.
