Just curious if anyone here has heard any speakers from Aperion? This beauty http://www.aperionaudio.com/product/Intimus-6T-Tower-Speaker,110,28,255.aspx looks intriging to say the least.

They sure do look nice....sensitive, and 6ohm so most receivers can drive them. The reviews are very strong as well.

    I'd like to hear them.

For the same price you could get LSi-25's... or LSi-15's and save a bit of coin. I have never heard of them, and that they get the audioholics "seal of approval" does not impress me much.

    Hey SS
My question is why? I'll never get rid of my SRS2's but have been looking around at different "new" speakers. I may put a second system in my living room sometime and thinking about "new school" instead of "old school".

I've experienced LSi's, Axioms, and Aperions first hand, with the caveat that I've experienced the Axiom M80's in a friend's rig on a number of occasions, and once compared them to the LSi9's that I owned for a while. Below are my thoughts:

Axiom is the most efficient of the three, their sound reminds me of Paradigm's monitor series with a bit more depth. They struggle with secondary and tertiary details in music, therefore, they can sound a bit limited with classical music. If one has basic budget electronics that they plan on keeping the Axioms might be the best choice.

Aperion has the most refined sound across the board. In talking with the staff Aperion speakers are designed to be very even and attempting to avoid boosting at certain frequencies. This "laid-back" approach can leave those who judge on a quick listen ho-hum. They offer up tremendous detail, but don't give great slam on the bottom end.

Polk LSi's offer the most bass detail and best slam. If the room is multi-purpose with a great many objects they can become a bear to properly position. LSi's also require the best amplification quality of the three brands, mediocre gear leaves them two dimensional. l also believe they have the most potential. The biggest weakness of the LSi's is the crossover, bluntly put it is inferior to the drivers and cabinet. The modified crossovers designed by Ben and others on the forum should be first on the list of rig improvements for LSi owners.

Too many drivers....Phil is like me, he likes simple speakers. Also I believe Axiom speakers are quite light.

Hey Joe, No, Stephen doesn't carry them, Aperion are internet direct only. Gorgeous looking & they get some strong reviews to boot. Aperion is a little unique in that they pay for shipping both ways...just in case you didn't like them & sent them back. I don't know of any other company that sticks there necks out there like Aperion. They must have confidence that they're not coming back once you give them a listen.

I'm still just tire kicking & looking right now...no hasty decisions, that's for sure.

Stephen's been talking with Richard...Vandersteen that is...he might be taking on his line!

I've heard these particular Axiom and Aperion speakers in a friends home theater so my experience is limited. Personally, I like the Axiom better than the Aperion. The soundstaging was way better and I felt the what was on screen was more 3D from top to bottom. That being said, I would take the Polks any day.

    Happy to:
To me the secondary details are the specifics of the sounds, such as where on the cymbal the tip of the drumstick hit.

Tertiary details I consider to be such things as the pressure of the pianist's finger tap on a key.

The better the speakers the more detailed these sound become. Hope that helps.
