optimal rms wattage for momo components
I have the 6.5" momo components currently being fed 150 watts rms X2 (Lanzar Opti mini amp 300D).
I'm wondering whether powering them 70 watts rms X 2 with an Arc mini amp 125.2 is insufficient. I generally listen to my system loud. Will I have distortion issues with this lower wattage at higher listening volume?
My reason for switching amps is the lanzar puts out quite a bit of hissing (regardless of the gain setting) and gets interference when driving (it's not alternator whine because it only happens here and there; example when I come around the corner by my house I get the interference).
I have to go with a mini amp due to mounting room constraints.

I personally shoot for 10-15% over the peak RMS recommended. Just a general rule of thumb that has worked for me.

Get rid of the lanzar amp, poor quaily amps. Most anything would be better.

I always try to get an amp that can deliver more than the RMS of a speakers. Just because you have it does not mean you need to use it. IMO if you have a heavy amp the sound to me sounds better at lower levels. You are using less of the avalible headroom on the amp.
You have to remember that 10 watts of power can be very loud.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t -
The important thing is that the amp can deliver the wattage necessary to get the SPL you want, without being driven into hard clipping.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2
