FXIA4 or FXIA6
What are the main differences between these two speakers, besides a 5 1/4 and the 6 1/2 driver? How do they really sound in comparison? Also---the FXI3 and the FXI5...what do these sound like in comparison to the FXIA4 and A6 speakers? Is the FXIA line simply a newer version of the FXI line, kind of like the Monitor line vs. the TSI line?

Welcome Kdog. You pretty much answered your own questions. Naturally the bigger speaker will have a bigger sound, but other than that they are the same. If you amp either one both will respond accordingly.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Hello - new to the forum although I have been using it as a guide. Thanks.
I also have a question about the FXiA6 speakers. Maybe you can help. I have TSI 500 fronts, CS2 center, DSW500 sub, and I would like to add the FXiA6 for my surrounds. Will this all work well together? I have read so much saying it will and just as much saying it will not. Any thoughts? This is solely for TV and movie enjoyment.
Another question, does anyone have experience or thoughts on fixing the FXiA6 surrounds to the ceiling? For practical reasons it would be the best place to install and I can't imagine that wall or ceiling would make much difference. Your help is appreciated. I am a novice, but want good sound. -
I would be afraid to fix them on the ceiling...even if they were "secure".
I would always be looking up in fear they were going to crush me.
I have found in a 5.1 setup, I have them about 2.5 feet above ear height of the listening position. I had them much higher and much lower heights on the wall, but this worked the "best". Try experimenting before drilling holes in your walls. -
I use the 6's as surrounds and the 4's as rear surrounds. You can check out pics in the gallery under ls7z06 posted a day or 2 ago. They both sound fine but the 6's are best.

Thank you both. Based on your experience do you think the set up I have will work well? Specifically the TSI with the FX?
Also, my problem with the wall installation is the speakers cannot be installed directly across from each other or on the rear wall, unless they are 12 feet behind the seating area. My problem is an L shaped seating area with a door in the corner of the L. Any suggestions?
ls7z06 - I tried looking for the gallery, but I didn't have permission. Am I looking in the right place?
Thanks again. -

You should be able to scroll your cursor over the forums button in the top tool bar, then slide down to system showcase in the drop down and click on that. Then click on my user name. I don't think you need permission???
It is hard to envision the room set up you described. However, the FXi speakers do give you the option of using them in bi-pole or di-pole modes. Based on whether they will be pointed at you or away, or if they are behind you or to your sides, you should have some nice flexibility in getting a nice result from them. Experiment with where they are aimed and which setting you have them set on. Also make sure you balance the speaker levels with a SPL meter. I think you would be pleased with the result after playing around with them.
