IMAX Sound

Does anyone know where I can find the specs on the IMAX sound systems?
A few weeks ago I got to go to a private viewing at the Air & Space Museum in DC of the IMAX raw footage from the Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission that took place in May. I am amazed that any sound system can reproduce the sounds this thing does. The dynamic range and response rate is incredible. I have seen shuttle launches in person and it was not this crisp, clear and LOUD from the viewing stands. The crackling roar of the SRBs is so intense I thought surely they are going to destroy the speakers.
The movie should be something to see. It is 3D but as you are watching it you forget until you realize an astronaut just about standing in your lap. You want to reach out and grab the tools from his hands. It is to be released Spring 2010.

I don't know all the specifics but I can tell you that IMAX systems use multi way active speaker systems with custom Bryston amplification.Searching "Sonics Associates" might garner you more details.Testing
