Sony SCD-C555ES SACD (Multi-Channel) Changer - 9/10 - Black - *SOLD* to Shack
This has been one of my personal unit(s) since 2003 and my stand-by unit for when I was in between higher end transports. I love this changer and it's probably the most sought after and highly modded changers in any of the Sony ES CDP lineup. It's built like a tank and I can't remember if I installed Dynamat underneath the top plate or not....so you may have bonus vibration dampening.
I am the original owner and it was purchased brand new in 2003. It's in perfect working condition and in absolutely stellar physical condition. The unit has been lightly used since it was always a secondary piece and I've owned 20-30 other CD players between 2003-2009.
Specifications:
•5-disc changer
•Plays multichannel SACDs, stereo SACDs, standard CDs, audio CD-Rs, and audio CD-RWs
•Frame-and-plate chassis
•Single lens with separate optical pickups for SACD and CD
•CD-R/W playback
•SACD/CD Text display
•Disc exchange
•Dual R-core power transformers
•Aluminum front panel
•Analog outputs for SACD (5.1-channel) and CD; optical and coaxial digital outputs for CD
•Multichannel bass management and level control
•Remote control
•SACD playback specifications:
•Frequency response 2-50,000 Hz
•0.0015% THD
•105+ dB dynamic range
•16-15/16"W x 5-7/16"H x 17-3/8"D
The connections have been treated with CAIG Pro-Gold and it's packed to withstand an atomic blast in unmarked, factory packaging from Sony Laredo.
I'm sorry that I don't have better pictures but I boxed it up before I realized that fact. The pictures below are of the actual unit in my rack, prior to being boxed up.
Includes: Original everything.

105 lb's???? HOLY CRAP!!

105 lbs? Pffft.
That changer is a killer player. Matt at sacdmods dot com uses it as reference for his mods. He modded a 9100 ES for me and he said my player got "close" to the 555. Well, some of you might remember that I had a hard time picking between the 9100ES and my Marantz Reference, so that 555 must be something._________________________________________________

Damn, I thought they'd bury that Sony SACD/CD player with you.
I've heard this player many, many times at Mark's house and it's what they say about it. Good deal here folks.Political Correctness'.........defined

Did I miss something concerning a price drop. Is the unit 325.00 including shipping or did the price drop to something else. It is tempting.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Glad this stayed en famile.....GREAT player.
Shack, if you think that modded player that you got from me is good (and it is)....send that to Matt Anker to be modded....it's simply amazing.

Your are right...but I probably need to sell the modded SCD775 first. I may put that up for sale to finance the mods to the 555."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais
