Pull the covers off?

I have to admit I'm completely dumb when it comes to electronics. What I find interesting is when somebody buys a piece of gear, the first thing that seems to happen is the tops come off and a picture is posted.

I've never done this since I would have no clue to what I'm looking at. I do realize that there are several folks here that know what they are looking at but the rest?

What is the fascination of a bunch of squiggly wires and colored chunks of plastic?

    Just a quick warning, the newer Mac stuff I've had doesn't come apart very easily.

    No kidding Mike! I was going to change the tubes in my C2200 and after about 3 hours of sweating blood, I gave up and traded it in for the C1000!

    As far as anything else, it goes back to McIntosh or AC. I'm a chicken!
